PvE players forced to PvP for gear: why?

Okay, I get that Blizz wanted to making gearing up a bit more difficult, and they nerfed drop rates. Fair enough. But it seems odd to me that basically anyone going to PvP can gear up faster for PvE content and basically pick and choose whatever gear they’d like along the way without any RNG hindering them.

For context: This week, I’ve killed 10 normal raid bosses, 3 Heroic bosses, and done 18 keys between mythic+ 5-9. This requires a heavy resource input of flasks, food, time, oils, and repair bills and apart from the guaranteed loot from completing 4 mythic dungeons (weekly quest) - which gave me an item with the worst secondary stats ever - I got nothing but anima all the way.

My friends suggested that I could upgrade my shoulder piece via PvP and it legit took only just over an hour despite losing two battlegrounds. The same can be applied for weapons, it takes <2 hours to get an ilvl 200 weapon from PvP, but to get an ilvl 200 weapon from a dungeon, you need to time a 7+ key with the resource investment mentioned earlier AND then PRAY for the RNG to get your piece.

Is anyone else not seeing the issue with this? PvP has ruined the game for PvE players forever, but this just takes stuff to a whole new level of stupidity and cringe. I don’t mind a grind, but as a PvE player it’s infuriating to try for 8+ hours for days and then have to resort to PvP to get my ilvl bumped up.

Because pvpers have been forced to pve for their gear for like 12+ years of this games existence. Welcome to the fun dawgie. Are you feeeeeeling it yet?

O do not make it out to be so bad. Getting 1500 honor and doing 40 man battlegrounds is easy honor and anima. Winning 4 battlegrounds is not difficult either.

Two can play at that game - PvE has ruined the experience for PvP players like myself. The fact that we have to gear through a gamemode we don’t enjoy is testament to bad game design. We should have our own gearing system entirely split from the filthy PVErs.

In all seriousness, I don’t see the problem here. People should play more of the game and not be forced through only PvE like they have been.

You need to look up the word ’ forced’
You can still do strictly PvE content for PvE gear.

did you make this same thread when pvp players were forced to pve for gear? probly not, you probly thought it was just fine that way.

When all the pvper were forced to PvE for gear, the response given was that those who participated in all content should have an edge against those who only participate in 1.

So. Here it is.

Those who participated in all contents should have an edge vs those who only do 1. Go queue for some games.

i am at like 75% pve and 25% pvp i had fun doing pvp this time to get a weapon and some gear to help me out

doing pvp is a way better deal then doing pve to gear up

This has been the point to PVP since its inception. We compete, and due to competition and a ladder with integrity, PvP has access to vendors with specific stat weights with the point behind it being that PvP gear is the best for PVP.

That’s not possible. The highest PvP gear can be upgraded currently is 184. It is quite literally impossible to get a PVP weapon from honor, other than queuing arena, getting to around 1600, and hoping you get a 200+ weapon out of your box.

Listen to me when I say it - it is literally impossible for someone to have a PvP weapon at item level 200 in the current moment. 184 is the highest, aside from someone getting a conquest weapon and having not bought anything else the first two weeks, and purchasing an offhand.

Edit: Turns out, I’m wrong. There’s one weapon type available currently which can be purchased, and that’s 1h weapons for str / agility users. It’s not all weapon types though.

I do miss my welfare WQ gear. At least I have upgraded renown gear

In Classic PvE gear (raid gear) was best for PvP
In TBC there was a PvP trinket (?) that was needed for a raid.
In WOLK PvP gear rained down and was great way to gear up easily.
etc. etc. etc.

Maybe an MMO (where a story occurs) isn’t the game for you then. Funny you’re telling people to go “experience more of the game” then complain that you have to participate in the story that allows PVP to also exist.

Go play a moba or something.

Welcome to PvP world - where we’ve been forced to literally complete ALL of your content just to be competitive in the middling levels of ours.

You’re not being fully transparent here. The conquest cap rn is 1100. Honor gear is capped at 184 as of right now. You aren’t going to fully gear from PvP in a few hours like you’re trying to portray. There’s also no way you capped from 0 to 1100 conquest in “Just over an hour” through some BGs

You’re ridiculous.

Key word is ONLY PvE/PvP to gear(easy to mistake as the way I typed is not done well).
If you want to be the best, the top trinkets should be from PvE, and some gear pieces should be BiS from PvP(by small percentages mind you).

Except, as I just got done pointing out, the OP is incorrect. It’s impossible for someone to get a 200 item level weapon from PvP, other than hitting the right rating in arena, and getting it out of their box on Tuesday. OP’s talking out of his rear. The time gating doesn’t allow for it, other than someone getting lucky on Tuesday, like the R1 players hitting 2400 week 1 and getting a 233 weapon out of their box.

Edit: There is an exception, and I was wrong. There is one weapon type available for 900 conquest which is for 1h str / agility users. However, other than offhands, no other weapon type falls in this. It’s not like someone’s gonna get a 200 item level staff, polearm, or 1h caster weapon by this point with them being 1400+ conquest each.

i wonder if having to pvp for decent gear and weapons is any where as frustrating as having to raid to get decent pvp gear from pve.

Once a long time ago there were currencies for both pvp and pve that let you see what types of gear and plan around what you could buy with the currency you earned.

There was even ways to convert unused currency to a useful currency minus some shuffle fee thing.

I could be wrong, I don’t do rated PvP, but there is a ilvl 200 weapon you can buy with conquest points. The current conquest cap is 1,100 and 1 handers cost 900. So unless there is some mechanism I’m missing you can absolutely get a ilvl 200 weapon.

It’s almost like people that play all aspects of the game reap the rewards

And now I have 3 More chances at getting a heroic ilvl weapon
