PvE or PvP server?

I’m wanting to roll alliance on a new server. But which? A PvP or PVE server? I want an active server with a good community. Coming from Horde GROB/DD.

This is my main in classic. I’ve only played Horde and PvP servers. Any benefits from going PVE?

Pve. Pagle is good.

There is no reason to play pvp server in classic. In vanilla we had some servers close to balanced where one side would attack and the other would rally a defense, it was fun.

In classic we either have 7 to 1 on one side or the other where one side just camps flight paths and low lvl quest zones to grind honor, it’s not world pvp, it’s not lack of skill when your lvl 50 gets back stabbed when coming off a flight path and dies.

Do you like being the underdog or the majority faction?

Two Alliance options for the most fulfilling experience. Pagle for pve or Herod for pvp.

Myzrael is an amazing PvE PST server. Couldn’t recommend it enough. Great population and economy.

I came over from PvP after honor released… got tired of the flight path camping. It made leveling my 48+ alts extremely annoying.

Yep… pretty much how it is.

Are you a sociopath? Do you get off torturing the other faction or being a glutton for punishment? Are you competitive? Pvp servers are for you.
Everything else? Pve server. Alliance flourish on just about every pve server so pick any that looks cool.

^This. I thought I wanted nostalgia, but I didn’t. Started on the dumpster fire named Heartseeker, then re-rolled on PvE server. Getting plenty of PvP in BGs and allowed to farm and travel in peace - or flag for a fair fight. Just don’t have time for the un-queued pvp anymore. :slightly_smiling_face:

I was on Biggs PvP and was 60 and had my 2 alts 48+ when honor launched. The flight path camping became a nightmare so I paid the $75 and moved all 3 to Myzrael PvE.

Money well spent. I didn’t get any medals for leveling on PvP and world PvP is pretty much a joke with all the campers.

I am bummed that Blizzard introduced xrealm at the start of BG’s release. That was not what the original vanilla experience was like. Back during vanilla, you would enter a BG and know right away what you were facing and because of that you established an actual war like feeling for the opposing faction. It was amazing and something that I was quite saddened to see that Blizzard decided not to take that route. I get it, the way the servers are imbalanced would have led to some severe queue times for BG’s… but it just isn’t the same queuing up against a bunch of random people over and over again… might as well be NPC’s because the feeling of caring just isn’t the same as during vanilla days when you actually knew who you were fighting… which sometimes led to mutual respect or a simple yet furious hatred for that person.

Back during vanilla, I played on a PvE server yet you wouldn’t have known it because PvP happened regularly at TM and SS and Xroads. It was crazy fun. This time around, Pagle had nothing for PvP… people were so focused on rush rush rush to get to max level and start grinding out the PvE loot grind. Bleh…

I think the only way you could truly get the unique vanilla experience again is to remove xrealm AND wipe everyone’s memory of the past… LOL

You avoid 99% of all problems in Classic if you go PvE, and ignore rankings. Just saying.

PvE.

You can still PvP whenever you want without getting ganked when you don’t want.

While you are needed on a pvp server as alliance, it’s miserable. Every zone that’s 50+ is infested with horde gankers. I can’t even fish in Azshara.

Alliance on Mankrik PVE

Right now PvP servers feel pretty toxic as Alliance, because horde minimaxers camp flightpoints between queues and so even on the most balanced servers it seems like horde is dominant. I transferred to Heartseeker to avoid that, but even here it’s a problem. Unless Blizzard magically remove incentive for horde to camp, it’s going to stay that way.

I would only recommend PvP server as Alliance only if you play a strong wpvp class like a rogue or enjoy PvP above everything else.

Otherwise PvE servers seem like a better way to enjoy classic overall as Alliance at the moment. I have a bunch of alts on Westfall, a good populated server. I’m planning to transfer this toon there too, unless Blizzard magically finds solution to problems described above.

PVE. The players tend to be more active on those. Easier to find groups.

I’d probably go pve at this point.

PVP and phase 2 wasn’t horrid on my server and still is not bad but leveling can be annoying especially on your first toon when you don’t have an established guild/friends that can help you out.

PvE is better IMO. The game wasn’t set up for open world PvP, wasn’t designed to mitigate faction imbalance, and world PvP is almost universally garbage.
