Ok so this has been covered numerous times here i realize but given the new 8.2 preview video that was released yesterday basically doubling down on needing pve gear to pvp i just have one question.
If this is wanted, intended if you will, for these to be used in rated play in a fair manner then why exactly are all of these raiding pieces NOT available on the tournament realms for use in the highest tier of competitive arena play?
Is this an oversight or is this a say one thing do another situation because if its expected then why arent we seeing void stones and tridents every weekend during AWC? Im sure i already know the answer to this i just feel like this is a slap in the face unless magically next patch raiders have to get 2k rated to get some BIS piece of gear from the pvp vendors that dont exist thats not why we’re here.

I get where you’re coming from, but this isn’t the first time Blizz has done this.
I remember all the way back in Wrath, the tournament realm did not have access to Naxx 25 KT weapons. (They were slightly higher ilvl than pvp weaps)
Blizz sets it up this way all for the sake of high competition.
Don’t get me wrong, I feel like we should have some semblance of this on live, too. However, for the sake of keeping the MMO-feel on live, they’re allowing it.
I’m okay with PvE gear being inside PvP, I’ve dealt with that annoyance in the past. But I really really abhor PvE gear that makes the pace even slower.
If PvE gear actually made games faster, I bet a lot of people would be complaining less.
In an ideal world, we would have bi-weekly tunings of classes/items for arena.
We would have pvp vendors.
We would have more complex class designs.

Pve gear in the tournament reduces viewers.
Pve gear on live increases participation in pve.
I think you mean it the other way.
Pve gear on live increases participation in PvP.
All these mongos with absorb gear from raids would die instantly if they didn’t have raid gear.

Yes!! Cunning, Vial and legendaries were 100% better
nobody is going to read your text, its not properly readable
use paragraphs.
as a reply to the now-readable thread, I think its because they knew things were poo and broken and thus decided to restrain their usability in AWC, since it could lead to poopy experience for the viewer.
They gave up on 8.1, thats why I quit the game when the patch came a few months ago (came back just now), because I knew this poo was 100% going to happen.
That said, I think what happened is an exception and not the rule, and that we’ll probably see more balance going forward.
also wtf cant say s h i t had to rewrite everything

I still remember in 5.2 randomly 1 shotting people with lei shen trinket. Pve in pvp was always a problem, the only real time it wasnt was wod when pve set bonuses were turned off in instance pvp. And the ilvl for pve gear was capped out lower than when your conquest gear was active by at least 10 ilvls.

I never really had issues with PvE gear in PvP in Wrath outside of Shadowmourne(Didn’t care about it though, as everyone that had it on Nightfall was horrible with the exception of one player I forgot the name), even DBW was acceptable IMO.
The problem might be that PvP gear lacks a PvP-specific atribute like Resilience

totally agree, makes the game such a drag.
“If PvE gear actually made games faster, I bet a lot of people would be complaining less.”
there’s no way man. so your saying if pve gear allowed games to go quicker and kill people faster then people wouldn’t go up in arms? it would be the exact opposite I imagine and blizz would disable pve gear in pvp. didnt this happen with OP trinks in the past and why they removed profession buffs too? cant remem.
having said that, I just f off in 3s with my irl friends, and only semi take 2s serious, so i am hardly exp’d enough to really know, but I feel like they aren’t disabling these items because they are defense oriented and can extend games for those who make errors(mostly all of us), and/or give mediocre teams “another chance”, so to speak, at winning
I think he meant that if there is an specific PvE gear that gives you 5% extra dps over a PvP trinket it’d be OK for it to exist, the same goes for the opposite path.
We’ve seen top end PvErs use PvP gear for stats (and PvP trinket for burst in M+) already and it was complained about by PvErs, but I think everyone at the top is actually fine with it.
Only people that complain about it are people who aren’t affected by it for some reason
yes they nerfed pve trinkets in pvp before. There was some pretty dumb trinkets, ww mastery was changed sololy because of the lei shen trinket in mop. Monks could 1 shot people with rsk when it procced
