Pve and Pvp

I just want pve and pvp to be separate. Will this ever happen?

What if I told you they were never separated.

It already happened, and then they went back on it because people whined. You can thank the wonderful “community”.

They were in Legion. Minus item level, there was no cross over. No PvE trinkets, no nonsense involving PvE gear, all that. It was all good. And item level’s impact was tiny.

You still used pve gear in pvp.
So they weren,t separated.

The fact that template made gear less relevant from all sources doesn’t mean that they were separated, just that gear mattered less.

For no reason other than item level. The templates completely made any gear in PvP irrelevant. It was just that doing a 15 was an easy way to get an extra percent on your stat sheet. I got seven elite mogs in seasons 5-7 because all I did was level a character, and go arena. It was fine that way.

Legion killed pvp, so clearly it wasn’t fine. That whole pvp scaling is killing pvp.

I don’t think it did. I had more fun PvP’ing in Legion than I did BFA.

Both expansions with the worse pvp population by far. I’m not even sure if BFA did better than Legion number wise for pvp.

It depends on the patch, but Ion specifically called out how popular war mode was by the end of 8.1, so PVP was fine at least at times.

The numbers for legion all around were insane, so I wouldn’t really blame solely PvP on that. The only issue with PvP was the gearing was far less than PvE so PvP couldn’t really compete for those that genuinely just wanted to PvP and gear through that system. I felt the templates did fine in balancing stats and scaling, especially for those that wanted to progress their characters and see the numbers rise at a fair level.

I’d def say legion wasn’t nearly as bad, sure it had its faults but so did every single pvp expansion prior to legion. But the definite pvp killer was for sure BFA without and contest.

Warmode isn’t by what I set my standard for pvp.
Or like Alliance like to call it Hordemode.
You will understand that warmode for Horde is just asking “are you playing the game?” xd

That’s not what the pvp population of Legion says.
That’s when they had to start changing the glad mounts spots because there wasn’t enough people in pvp to get the mount even if you were top 100.

And in BFA they added the “you only need to win an amount of matches over 2400” to get glad

I can’t blame only one thing because it failed, but both failed.

PvP is just a PvE side mini game the same way pet battles are, thus they will never be seperate because PvP is part of PvE.

The PVP population of any expansion complains about PVP when the expansion is current.

“BC killed PVP because they added arenas”
“Wrath killed PVP because they added DKs”
“Cata killed PVP because of homogenization”
“MoP killed PVP because of more homogenization”
“WoD killed PVP because of pruning”
“Legion killed PVP because honor talents, artifacts and class design”
“BfA killed PVP because class design, systems and PVE gear”

We’re talking numbers here not fantasy.
Between Wod and Legion/BFA pvp numbers dropped by a multiplicative factor.
For some wod seasons there were 10x the amount of people.

So did the population of the whole game. At least for WoD, we don’t know for Legion but we can assume it did.

As far as raiding go, raiding didn’t drop by 10x.
So one can assume pvp performance was way worse.

So now you’re backtracking and saying PVP didn’t die but “it was way worse than the decline of raiding was”

Yeah, good move, because it’s pretty pointless to enforce why “X expansion killed PVP” because everyone will have a different opinion on it.

…
I’m not backtracking xd
You just don’t like me explaining “why it died”.

To quote myself.

Yeah I’m messing with you and purposefully nitpicking.

I mean people really will say PVP died every expansion tho soooo…
