Do you guys think that Executionner is better than Mongoose for 2H Arms Warriors? I tried to look everywhere and noticed that alot of people were still using that OG Karazhan enchant. I have Cata’s Edge, alot of ArP gear (Madness B., T6 etc.) and still saw some other Warriors say that Mongoose was better.
Let me know what you think and if possible, link any guide to support your logic!
Most go for Executioner on MH and Mongoose on OH. Some people still debate that double Mongoose is BiS. Still have not found any recent guide that ends the debate. Alot of people on the Logs are also still using Double Mongoose.
I imagine it depends on how much ArP you have, the armour on the boss, and whether you use IEA. The lower armour something has the higher value every additional point of ArP. Alternatively if something has no armour like reliquary of souls phase 1, then you get nothing out of the enchant.
As far as I can tell after looking around, mongoose is still the winner vs raid bosses. They have so much armor already that ignoring some of it doesn’t beat the crit/haste. I think executioner could beat mongoose vs normal mobs/players, but you probably don’t want to juggle enchants for that.
As you get more arp, executioner gets stronger. ZA and Sunwell have lots of arp, the difference right now is minimal and will get more in executioner’s favor later.
I’m testing it out now because I too could not find much info anywhere. From what I can tell right out of the box there is not much difference in the numbers you produce. You will still be doing the same DPS per round more or less. But, when it procs (and I’m at about 600 raw Armor P) It feels like I’m cutting mobs/players in half.
Boss no difference really, trash and people it’s way better. You can always have a set of weapons to dual wield with mongoose for the procs then back to twohander for a boss fight.
I can’t speak for warriors, but for ret executioner is about 14 dps on a sim behind mongoose overall… And that’s on a class that has a good chunk of its damage being spell based and already ignoring armor (seal proc from both command /blood and judgement)… I’d add that I find executioner to be a much better option for pvp, personally.
From IQgaming… “On the topic of weapon enchants: Executioner is considered better than Mongoose due to the increasing returns nature of ArP. Executioner however, unlike Mongoose, cannot stack with itself. If you have two weapons enchanted with Executioner, the buff will simply refresh. If you have two weapons enchanted with Mongoose you will gain a second buff. For this reason it’s generally considered best to enchant your main hand weapon with Executioner, and offhand with Mongoose. For a 2h weapon, Executioner is more commonly used than Mongoose and Savagery can be a cheaper alternative if you cannot afford Mongoose/Executioner on a 2h weapon.”
As others have states it entirely depends on the boss armor and debuffs. Boss havw either 6200 armor or 7200. Consider a 6200 armor boss with 5xSunder (2600), CoR 800, and FF (610) for a total of 4010 armor reduction has 2190 armor remaining.
With T6 gear, Catas Edge, Madness, Silent Justice, SSR, Primal Wrath, Armani Bow, Legs of Divine etc. you should have no difficulty hitting 1500+ if not close to 2k ArP.
If the boss has only 200 armor left and your executioner procs for 800 ArP it’s only good for that 200ArP.
You will only get the full value of the proc on a 7700 armor boss or trash that does not have debuffs applied.
If you have 2 equal weapons, 2H as Arms, or MH as Fury you can juggle. There are plenty of lists of which bosses, and if you are the only Arms warrior you’ll probably see 2 Catas Edge, but as Fury are you expecting 2 MH Glaives to swap between? Good Luck.
Yes, you can diminish the effectiveness of Executioner for a 2H arms warrior even further by adding IEA, I capped it at Sunderx5 just to illustrate the ease of over capping ArP.
