The devs should be ashamed. May 27th is wayyyyyy to late for anything to matter, and the new chips are basically worthless anyway for anyone that would ever use them.

I agree. 13 weeks into the patch, player that cleared Mythic will have the gear already. So the time used to implement this was completely wasted since it will only help very very few players.
At least make like this: Clear heroic get mythic items from the dinars, Clear normal get heroic items from the dinars
That way it’s actually useful.
I only play M+. I’m only interested in the Jastor ring, maybe Eye of Kazan. These would be 1-2% upgrades each for me. Surely not worth starting to progress Mythic raid.

While I agree that these chips are pretty terrible in comparison to dinars… I’m a bit surprised they were going to offer dinars at all in a mid-expansion tier? IIRC dinars were previously for the season 4 patch where progression wasn’t really even a thing? Sort of a ‘the expacs over, go crazy and have fun while waiting for the next expac’ style season?
Why are we expecting this in the middle of expac? Am I wrong about that? Haven’t these previously been season 4 rewards?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a bit bummed by the restrictions as well, as with these restrictions… they’re nearly useless for me, but when I think about it. I’m not sure it makes sense to have these be a mid-expac reward.

Season 4 was a better implementation. It didn’t force you to play a mode you didn’t enjoy in order to optimize your character.
I would rather them remove Cartel Chips than keep them.
