Put Transmog in SoD (or even future Classic+) with a Toggle

I see SoD (and the hypothetical Classic+) as an upgraded or remastered version of the game mechanics we so loved from the old days. Adding transmog to the game would give players an extra fun thing to do. This is one of the reasons retail has the longevity that it does— keeping players playing, instead of just raid logging. I can see why some oldhead players might hate it, so offer a toggle in the settings to turn off transmog. Then, those players would only see the original armor models.

Retail literally has an arachnophobia setting that turns all spiders in the game into crabs, so this would probably not be that hard to do. It’s simply disabling transmog models from appearing to the players that want to see the base armor.

While you’re at it, we would also appreciate a barbershop please. Love you.

“Please retail my classic!”

This is why people play Classic/SoD, to get away from the retail experience. I’m okay with a few changes here and there, but I want Classic to stay more Classic than retail if that makes sense.

May as well add in the selfie cams, garrisons, dragon riding/steady flight, portals to everywhere in the capital cities, etc…

I personally don’t want transmog in classic. I enjoy being able to see what gear they have on that might give them an edge in combat. We got pieces of gear with bonuses attached to them. I don’t wanna make it so everyone you see just looks cool and thats it. Barbershop hell yes

I wrote this by the way. I just don’t see Classic+ releasing in this day and age without customization features. It feels half-baked to me.

I don’t see an issue in having transmog with a toggle. Doesn’t impact anyone who doesn’t want it in any way

That’s my point! Thanks for reading it. Like I said, I get loving an old game and older mechanics, but if we’re talking about Classic+ coming out and reimagining the old game design, I feel like you want little things like transmog or whatever to keep the game interesting for a long period of time. Or else everyone just raid logs the game and stands around in the main hubs doing nothing… until they all get bored and the hype dies and the population plummets.

the only snag i could see with a toggle is if it somehow diddnt work like when they had new char models and said they would keep the option for the old ones and they couldnt make it work so they just scrapped the old models all together .

base should be that we see the real gear and toggle should be to see the transmog. if they cant make it work then scrap the whole thing and go with the base.

If I’m remembering correctly, they scrapped the old model toggle due to the release of Demon Hunters and not being able to rig new animations very well with the old models.

honestly i dont care either way why it was scrapped , only that they said they would keep the option for the old models and they scrapped it.

i dont want a replay with transmog being forced on people who dont want it in the first place.

if they can make a toggle work, so be it.

if they cant then scrap it.

I mean I agree but I don’t think they would do something like that with classic WoW. Retail was one thing, but they would be fully shooting themselves in the foot doing that with classic. Then again, they added the WoW token the Wrath, so you might not be far off LOL.

Dood nah you will wear your goofy gear and you will like it.

Can’t wait to look like a birthday clown in TBC again!!!

SOD is not classic
You classic nerds should go to anniversary realm and leave SOD alone.

Transmog with the option to turn off viewing ‘appearance alterations’ in the Settings.

This way those of us who want to transmog can, and those who don’t want to see it can just disable it. - A function that should have been in the game since transmog released.

I personally rather like the Paladin T0.5 color schemes (Red for Ret, Golden for Prot, Purple for Holy). I’d love to rock that appearance without sacrificing T1/T2 stats and set bonuses.

PS: T0.5 Prot + Draconian Deflector is freakin sweet looking!

Yeah like, I GET IT. I understand 100% that adding stuff like this to classic is a slippery slope to some people, and they don’t trust Blizzard not to ruin the feel of the original game.

With that said, I truly think in our year of 2024 and beyond, cosmetic customization options are some of the biggest draws for players to express themselves in games today. I really believe this is something that would prolong the life of the game experience. There’s a reason why there’s a joke that “transmog is the true endgame”.

Having the option to either opt-out or even opt-in to being able to see transmog or not, could give players that do not want to experience that in classic a way to retain the closer to original feel.

I’m not sure if anyone here has ever played a pokemon quality of life improvement rom hack, but sometimes even classic games with improvements can hit the ball out of the park with keeping the original feel and modernizing mechanics and features to a point that still feels natural to the original experience.

I’m also certain era servers with the “no changes” classic experience would never go away either for the people that want a die hard original experience. Or else they wouldn’t have released these anniversary realms.

Andys can’t define what “clásico” is.

Transmog were born in cata, and Cata is wow “classic” for Blizzard.

The clown is refering to classic era, and Yalm got your fresh servers, so, let SoD in peace with the people that love sod.

We aren’t asking for retail mogs. We’re asking for customization. The whole concept of SoD is retailing vanilla to some extent or another.

I don’t get it.

If you don’t like the game, why you play it?
Play the version with transmog/Raid Finder/Flight/Insta teleport/ and all features you like. It already exists. Some people like some people don’t.

I don’t see any classic player asking to remove a feature from retail to make it more classic. It is always the other way around… stick to your game

will say this again.

if they make a toggle that actually works , i see no reason not to do it.

if the toggle doesnt work and the choice is between forcing it on everyone or not implementing it at all , i would choose not to implement it at all.

i like being able to see the opponents gear, so much that if such a toggle was introduced i would like the ability to turn off other appearance changing things like the cosmetic toys and noggen as well.
