You dont have to be a good player to get a TCG mount online. Just be Rich and blizzard doesn’t even make any money off it. Blizzard can profit by putting the rest of the TCG mounts on the trading post or as twitch drops.
Personally I think that spending thousands of dollars for a few purple pixels is stupid.
Blizz never made a promise that they would be exclusive to the card game.
