this made me el oh el. Cause this is whats wrong with the game. Lets try fixing layering first. Go from there shall we?

They had to give some rogues an excuse to feel they know what they’re doing, the fact so many people rushed to the obvious kind of indicates most rogues were directionless, also I Think the hivemind didn’t like the idea of rogue tanking and fed people really bad information, saber slashing for threat whew doggies!

how about no. maybe nerf the damage some. but higher energy cost absolutely feels bad to play.

Why would mutilate get nerfed? The only reason we’re able to keep up on the meters is because of the mutilate buff. If we were still using saber slash in this phase we’d be bottom dps right next to enhance shamans and frost mages. Maybe like a 5-10% damage nerf in pvp only might work? But I genuinely don’t think mutilate is as oppressive as most of the other abominations created this phase. cough melee hunters cough priests cough arcane surge cough pvp paladins cough

If rogue gets cloak of shadows then sod will be permanently ruined.

It may be fun for the rogues. But the player population will plummet since it destroyed the entire class balance of classic as it removes all risk of playing rogue.

Mutilate damage isn’t even that big a contributor to the 4 second inside-of-cheapshot kill, it’s just the 2 combo points per hit.

You can immediately balance Mutilate by upping the cost a mere 5 energy, requiring a whole extra energy tick to dish out a full combo.

I’m personally hoping rogues get a set of healer runes, come on!! Bandage Spec > Syringe Spec.

But did no one realize saber slash is for armor penetration and steady damage against enemies higher level than you? Its not really useful otherwise.

Eh id still kill most people with a tea just like now.

I think a lot of rogues are using tea and thats why everyone is crying.

I do agree though with reduced its dmg maybe. Raising the energy would kill the rune again.

sadly true when basic game mechanics are in dire need of fixing before imbalances.

Its crazy people still think Mutilate is that much of a problem compared to other things.

Mutilate crits main hand for 400 if you’re geared and 200 offhand. 600 dmg crit and horrible damage otherwise. Meanwhile Void Plague ticks for 200-220.

They won’t change mutilate back but they MIGHT nerf their damage considering how much of you babies are whining.

Mutilate should be 45 energy, and moved from backstab synergy to sinister strike synergy.

This will make it a talent investment to put it at 40, along with removing the 20% bonus damage from opportunity and the 30% crit chance from improved backstab. That will significantly reduce it’s burstiness in terms of damage, while still making it a competitive combo builder as an option. With those two talents removed, a good strong 1h sin strike will out damage it, but generate less combo points, which means we’ll have more equal OPTIONS instead of one defacto king.

Sin strike for consistent damage.
Mutilate for combo generation and poison synergy
Backstab for high burst, positional based damage
Saber strike for bleed damage

Mutilate will scale very well with backstab talents in pve too.

We dont even get imp backstab as our pve spec yet but i assume we will next phase.

Once we get +30% crit and +50% off hand damage we gonna be pumpers.

mut should be back to 60 energy and its damage should be doubled, at lest hitting twice as hard as backstab does.

people complaining about 60 energy feeling bad must not have known that backstab rogue was one of the best builds in classic.

People need to remember that, with completely vanilla gear, and literally 0 runes, a rogue could be ambushing for 800 damage, backstabbing for 600 damage, and then popping a thistle tea for another two backstabs, for a total of 2600 damage in 3 seconds (before armor of course).

That’s a pure vanilla rogue. No runes. Vanilla gear, no SOD gear
