Speyside:
My account is expired because I don’t care for retail. The chance of getting into Beta is very low. I don’t want to pay 15 bucks for a chance at it because I would (likely) be paying for a game that I do not care for. That being said, if the opportunity comes up, I would gladly pay for it.
Discuss?
Going to quote this from another discussion. (Yes I know it’s me quoting myself)
And for those who want to whine about active subscriptions being required:
Be prepared to enter your World of Warcraft account name, password, and the account-upgrade key listed below. To participate in the beta test immediately, the retail World of Warcraft account that you’d like to use for beta testing must be active as of October 8, 2006 . If the account is activated sometime after October 8, it will be ready for use in the beta test after the subsequent weekly beta maintenance period, which occurs every Monday between 12pm and 4pm PDT . For example, if you activate the account today, you will be able to start playing the closed beta on the following Monday after 4pm PDT.
Nothing new to see here folks.
edit wrath:
Please be prepared to enter the current retail World of Warcraft account name and password you use, and the appropriate beta code listed below to authenticate your eligibility to connect to the Wrath of the Lich King test realms. To participate in the beta tests, you must have a valid retail World of Warcraft account active and in good standing as of July 15, 2008 .
Cataclysm:
Please be prepared to enter the current retail Battle.net
account name and password you use. To participate in the beta test, you must have a valid retail World of Warcraft account.
The Mists of Pandaria’s beta invite does not have that disclaimer, and based on prior forum discussions I’m sure my BfA invite also didn’t require it.
Based on how the above examples were written from prior beta tests, an Active subscription is not required to get the beta invite. An Active subscription will be required in order to use it.
