Alright Blizzard. Stop being obtuse. Put Auction House NPCs in the new expansion cities. It’s getting irritating praying for a whale to summon a long boi or going back to Stormwind.
Cut the crap out and put some Auction NPCs in Oribos.

Who auctions on their main? Just mail everything to a bank alt permanently parked next to the AH.

This. Also: engineer has an AH in Oribos. Make an eng alt, if you’re not an eng on main.

While I would love this, their love of Faction Capitol cities on Azeroth will continue to poison the well of logical access.
I wish they would partition us off into a city/hub of our choice - and for those who have chosen that city/hub, have all the amenities. You’d see the same people, you’d have a functioning community… I can dream, right?

Get engineering
The idea that you would need to burn one of your profession slots to such a non-starter of a profession in order to have the convenience of AH access in the current expac’s staging area, especially when working the AH can secure your continued subscription to the game, is repugnant to me.

^ What they said. You should have Engineering on all your alts when leveling at least, for the wormhole toy. It only requires 1 point in Shadowlands Engineering and it’s extremely useful. Bonus, you get access to the AH in Oribos and also Dalaran, you know, if you’re ever there.

Don’t worry. At the current trajectory I think the next thing that WoW is going to rip off from FFXIV is being able to have all tradeskills on one characters. The concept is dated now that there’s almost no reason to have a tradeskill, the idea used to be that you mastered and built an expansive repertoire of patterns so it made sense to have ones you wanted to use.
Given that they’re now so pointlessly interchangeable and can be leveled in no time and only matter if you intend to craft your own legendary bases or craft them for money it’s probably going to be a given they’ll just be not bound by the only two rule.
Fun fact, you used to be able to take every profession in the game during the original beta. Though this was scrapped because you spent skill points of which you only got a limited number for patterns and basically everything from class skills to recipes, to even adding additional attributes. The reason they changed it is because everyone who did crafting did it on a mule character and not their main because then they couldn’t stack primary stats or have skills. This created an ecosystem of guilds having one deadweight alt they just powerleveled to do all the crafting, but would never contribute in any PvE which was where the huge recipes were.
I don’t care about the larger question of having an auction house in Oribos because I’ve always used bank alts and such.
But I do dislike when people say just take engineering. I could see this if each character got have 4 or 5 professions but you do only get 2 so to have to burn one just for an auction house seems like a poor solution.
That said I don’t really think it’s a big deal anyway. 2 load screens and a couple minutes travel.

Agreed. And there is easy portal travel from Oribos to Org/SW.
Anyway, to the OP, new expansion hubs tend not to have auction houses. I think the only ones that did were the Ashran ones (Warspear/Stormshield)?
