Personally I’m 100% push to talk. Everyone doesnt need to hear every noise, chew, slurp or side conversation etc on my end. But there are people who really enjoy never having to push a button to speak.
Where are you on the push to talk vs voice detection wars?
push to talk unless i’m doing something that requires my hands be occupied at all times and the person i’m with doesn’t mind. For instance, was playing dark souls 1 with a friend over discord the other day and we both went with voice detection cuz our hands were too busy executing pro gamer strats.
Push-to-talk, always. I despise hearing background noise and conversations from people who use open mic, and would never subject people to that myself.
Yesterday I was playing PUBG and some random with open mic / voice detection was having a non-stop conversation with his buddies, after a few minutes I muted him (which defeats the purpose of using voice chat in the first place) because it was driving me INSANE.
Discord’s automatic mic sensitivity is pretty good at filtering out noises that are not you speaking. Even filters out my sneezes most of the time.
However it depends what i’m doing. If it’s just me and a friend in a call i’ll leave it open. If i’m in a raid with 20 other people i keep it push to talk.
The few times I’ve had it unintentionally on voice detect it has annoyed everyone. Funny part is that because I never intend for it to be on I don’t check when it happens.
I can’t imagine using voice activation, I’d feel like a degenerate scumbag. May as well just start leaving shopping carts in the middle of the parking lot too.
I don’t use any voice chats because people hate PTT but wont stop vaping and coughing in their mic if you give them voice detection. Not interested in your shrieking mother or your dogs very much either.
I use push to talk, but this screws me up so much in keys because my friend and I could be having a good convo, but while I’m pressing my keys, I am also trying to talk to my friend, so either I am low DPS/Standing in stuff, or I am 30% silent in keys when my friend and I vc.
