Elves have always been known for their mastery of the Arcane. For years we’ve had art of several mages with glowing purple eyes due to their magic.
So how come Blood Elves aren’t getting this color?
Most races I’ve seen so far is getting purple eyes as a customization option
Why are eyes so taboo for Elf customization?

Purple is generally void, blue is generally arcane. Blood elves are getting blue eyes because the Sunwell is a light infused arcane well. They don’t really have any connection to the void.
I don’t even think void elves are getting purple eyes, pretty sure they’re NPC only.
I think the belfs are getting purple.

Because purple is void, yall shunned the void elves so you don’t get purple eyes.
High Elves have had more than blue eyes. Purple,green violet ect. I don’t think the blue eyes is really a sunwell thing.
Nightwell was purple too.
Green came from being around fel energy. Blue came from the arcane in the Sunwell. I don’t recall blood elves with purple eyes. Yellow eyes come from the Sunwell being light infused.
Mages manifest purple eyes a lot. The arcane energy is purple as well

I recall another topic done to death and it finally happened. So while we are discussing customization for races, we might as well ask for several options that are canon in-universe as well
Purple and Red are in the dressing room for Belves, they just have to enable them for playable characters. Right now they are only for NPCs.
I fear they may remain NPC-only
I don’t particularly like the red eyes, but at this point they might as well add them too
I really want them, because I could use them on my warrior and mage. And they fit in with the Belf armor and Venthyr stuff. I’ve been wanting San’layn or Dark Ranger type customizations.
But I do think they’ll stay NPC. 
The Blood Elf fel green and the holy glow sure. High Elves before then had different colored eyes not just blue. They where all given blue eyes in game for in game reasons. Look it up.

Anasterian had gold eyes. Some Helves had silver or white eyes. Some had purple/pink eyes in WC III and still do in Reforged.
