Another post requesting (begging) for purple fire in the way we have green fire.
As an aff main, it’s always odd to suddenly have orange or green coming out of me and imagine how cool (and fun) purple rain (of fire) would be. From past forum posts and commentary elsewhere, it’s clear warlocks would love this.
Purple has been a large part of the Warlock aesthetic, even our Legion mounts are green/orange/purple, and Destro got the purple version of our rocky boy, and it feels like we really should have had purple fire by now.

What spells do we use as affliction that show fire animation?

Totally agree. Hell my Warlock is a Void Elf, AFFLICTION lock, and I still want purple fire to fit character and things like burning rush.

I really like this idea, as a user of the purple infernal, a purple chaos bolt, to me at least, would be great.
More cosmetic spell customization in general would be great lol
I would really like to see, eventually, for them to add some of our non demon spells to the barbershop (or class trainers, for the fantasy). Im definitely NOT suggesting that ALL spells, classwide, get this treatment, but it could start with just the main filler and main spender abilities just as start. (Like baseline for Chaos Bolt can choose green (default), purple or orange)
Also, imagine they finally do give back the skull shadow bolt, but this time, in 3 different colors (and maybe some modern touches graphically)

You really don’t use Burning Rush?
We cant even get a good looking shadow bolt, what makes u think we need purple fire?
ive had green fire since MOP and didnt even remember burning rush was originally orange LOL.
I wonder if the hellcaller talent that gives affliction fire damage affects burning rush too!
While I do agree purple fire would be cool and would like that as an option, I would also like burning rush’s visuals (and name) changed to something that feels less like it was intended to be a visual gag ability.
Like oh the warlock’s robe caught fire so now they’re running fast to try to find water, isn’t that funny? Or oh look the warlock runs so fast the ground catches fire like the old sonic the hedgehog cartoon, very silly. That’s basically all I can think whenever I see the animation for it.
I’d prefer burning rush be switched to a shadow themed ability like the warlock turns spooky and zooms around and the damage component is because you shouldn’t turn yourself spooky in that way, but I guess that encroaches too much on wraithwalk and shadow form.
Purple fire is so ambiguous and arbitrary
Just because you see it elsewhere does not mean it has any correlation to affliction and the magic it uses
If you want more purple go play a priest

I dont see why we cant just have a glyph that turns our magic into shadowflame. We used a bit of it during DF.
I’d love this - heck, I’d love it of all classes could do this.
Paladins are holy warriors who draw on the light. The same thing could easily exist in WoW for one that draws on the Void. It would be great if a paladin could tint their effects to be purple to play that fantasy.
This is actually something you can do in Champions Online - a very underappreciated MMO for its time. I would be surprised if it still doesn’t have, bar none, the most amount of character customization options of any MMO and it’s not even close.
To be fair, purple fire would make more sense on Demonology, as everything is basically shadowflame. It’s all pretty much that already, so giving us the option for a greenish start and a trail of purple flames for burning rush would be cool.
That’s kind of reiterating my point though
There is nothing intrinsic to purple fire that would flag it to affliction’s realm of magic
Also the less overtly purple the better. I’m tired of looking like a flamboyant disney villain

Yeah, that’s a fair point, but you don’t have to take the purple fire cosmetic, just like how some people prefer orange fire over green. More options are a good thing.

I’m fairly sure a Dragonflight style Shadowflame effect for our fire spells would be sufficient.

New void side quest to do purple fire animations would be cool. Def season 2 type thing would be amazing.
I would adore a blood red Chaos bolt like the energy of Sargeras sword. Purple would rock too though.
Purple like how shadowflame is? Because the reason for green fire is a lore thing, shadowflame warlock has shadowflame spells and they use shadowflame in their animation (hand of gul dan ans demonbolt are 2 i know off the top of my head)
That would be awesome, more options, the better!
I also had an idea, like maybe through the hellcaller tree, a Malevolence Bolt - it would be a mostly purple with some green in, and it could have the purple demon horns in the front (basically the Malevolence haste buff graphic in the form of a chaos bolt)
