Purifying Power Rune

Purifying Power

Requires Paladin

Reduces the cooldown on Exorcism and Holy Wrath by 50%, and Holy Wrath can now be cast at any target and will Stun Undead and Demon targets for 2 sec.

Make Holy Wrath Instant Cast when using this rune.

Currently it doesn’t provide nearly as much DPS benefit as using the Hammer of Wrath rune or Hammer of the Righteous rune.

With the Exo fast 2h gameplay you don’t have time to for a 2 second cast.

Now with Seal Twisting added, it’s a complete DPS loss to stop and cast anything over continuing to melee.

Make this rune make Holy Wrath instant cast so it has some viablity over just decreasing exo’s CD which is practically useless if you’re using the AoW build properly.

Holy Wrath definitely needs some tuning at 2.5 second cast, 645 mana cost (lots of mana for a ret pally mid fight to cast) and a 30-second CD.

It does 362-428 Holy Damage for a baseline, for anyone wondering, which is halved in PVP now, so 181-214 damage. I feel like for its weight it should be a bit heavier on damage, or lightened up on usability.

Opportunity to give Pallies a Arcane Explo. type of mechanic with it? Make it an instant cast spell that has a delayed release so targets have the opportunity to clear? Just thoughts that I feel may improve the function of it in both a PVE and PVP enviro.

or maybe adding unintended sperg mechanics to the game from former expansions that were never intended, creates more unintended problems.

Let me educate some Paladins: twisting doesn’t require skill, no matter how many psuedo Paladin streamer lords tell you it does. One addon and some practice, anyone can do it. But why would you want that playstyle? And why would you want to constantly spend the globals and mana for an extra bit of damage over an actual well defined rotation?

While your topic is certainly valid, it’s always the same with the average Paladin player: Never think big picture, always thinking the smallest picture. You should be fighting for what retail Paladins have or in a similar sense, something comparable. Seal twisting is the actual definition of cringe.

agreed.

The post was never about seal twisting.

One of the most mana inefficient ways to maybe generate a SoC proc once on a Seal of Righteousness…

It seemed like Sheath of Light USED to stack with Eye for An Eye, the talent point, in reality which it kind of should given the mechanic of translating spell damage from a critical hit.

When you want to really back up the issue with Ret Paladin to analyze is the fact that most of us do not want the “Lamellar,” plate gear with strength, stam and int with spell power because we like to call it “Lame-Lar,” for fun - we would much rather have the agility over the spell power given, which is a huge benefit when hunters run Aspect of the Lion, negating the use of Kings.

We do not have a kit sufficient with spell power translation to warrant picking up those pieces, I see nobody wearing it outside of the gloves, which have zero intellect on them - making mana retention even harder, and Holy Wrath damn near impractical.

Bro, half the paladin runes suck and will NEVER be used (the shaman runes especially like Rebuke, Horn of Lordaeron and Inspiration Exemplar), which is a shame because they are really good if they didn’t take vital slots. That is why Phase 3 feels so bad because EVERY SINGLE RUNE they added gives nothing via changing things that don’t matter. Even if Holy Wrath was instant, it still wouldn’t matter because it costs 30% of your entire mana bar! Even the Hammer of Wrath rune doesn’t matter because you go OOM after hitting the button a couple of times when the CD is reset, especially on bosses. It feels like a half-hearted attempt to reference back in the day when the boss is at 1% during a raid wipe and a paladin bubbles and executes to save the day…

And they aren’t even consistent when they do make changes, like Righteousness can now crit, but it doesn’t proc Vengeance (literally 15% of our total damage output).

What it looks like did is they made the entire kit at once on a lvl 60 template (with 2 more runes than we have now) and then did sectional releases at launch—you know, rather than actually PLAYING a Ret Paladin.
