Pureblood fire hawk felfire hawk and corrupted fire hawk totally remodeled (blizz since corrected on 10/22))

Seems like they’re on an endless mission to gut everything the original teams created. Very strange

Oh well deal with it just like many of been telling the Disabled players to deal with Pathfinder again when TWW goes live…isn’t this what you all wanted now you all claim to love Dragon Flying and wanted to be able to Dragon Fly on all your mounts…so Blizzard made it happen now…enjoy your damaged looking mounts now.

yeah they broke a lot of mounts special effects. dreamrunner style mounts effects now pause every few seconds. AOTC argus mount flow effect also pauses every few seconds and when grounded animation is broken. Ashes doesnt have the spectral trail while skyriding. ashes is actually fixed rn on beta with the spectral trail which lends creedance to the face that this prepatch is an outdated build

Recently I noticed instead of gliding when on the ground Pandaren Kites hop along, it looks ridiculous.

I don’t either and i have to say im so disappointed in Blizzard for doing this - dynamic flying should have been delayed instead of wrecking some of the most iconic pieces of art in the game and that is what these mounts are - art…

shame on you Mr. Blizzard shameon you

Since the first day of tww beta i tested all mounts, to check for any issues with the adjustment of the models for dynamic flight. The firehawk and other mounts are bugged or missing visual effects after the mapping/reskinning/rerigging whatever you wanna call it. I reported this in beta several times and made posts on eu forums, but it looks like its not on priority list at the moment. But i hope it will be fixed soon, too.

I made several pictures from before 11.0 and after:

From my point of view and with my 3D modeling experience, the main problem are the twisted texture surfaces for the firehawk’s flames.

To explain this a little more deeply: The flames/feathers consist of animated textures that lie on flat but curved polygon surfaces. These polygons are attached to the model like feathers and form the body shell through different orientations. As you can clearly see in the side view in the linked picture, the surfaces are no longer arranged around the body but are aligned horizontally/flat to the ground. The texture therefore points upwards. Because they are only flat surfaces, you only see the line from the side. The body shell is therefore no longer visible. From the view from above, you can also clearly see how this visually creates a square-looking surface on the mount’s neck instead of tapering towards the head. The textures appear more detailed and darker because more surfaces and thus textures overlap. The wings and tail are also heavily affected by this, which also causes clipping. This makes the model look “plucked”.
It is clearly a bug that occurred during the adjustment for dynamic flying. What you personally find “nicer” is excluded from this and up to you.

Cheers

I’ve noticed this since they released 11.0.0, it’s a bug with the model’s textures and it’s not a rework, the square and flat textures on the neck make it very obvious that this is a bug, however I think it got worse with 11.0.2, now it looks even worse than in 11.0.0.

I recommend that you post this in bug report forum and not here.

There already exists a post about this in bug report forum, where i replied too.

Its the wing length for me - how terrible it is compared to what it once was…

just look at the breadth of those wings

now look at it: sad panda: https://www.imghippo.com/i/jzjCG1722107576.png

They definitely made it a bit smaller in general. I hope this wasn’t intended since even the proto drakes themselves haven’t changed and they all shared/share the same rig. Maybe once they get the model sorted it’ll expand like a sponge.

This is such a boomer thread. “It doesn’t matter if it looks better, it’s different than it used to be!” Are you actually listening to yourselves?

I think you are missing the main argument that the mount itself has multiple display bugs which detracts from anything that might look “better”. I think those are the underlying problem, including the tail feathers. That too feels like a bug. Fix those and the mount itself should be fine.

Sure, I agree. But that’s a different argument than what the thread says.

Blizz should at least discuss if they’re going to fix this issue or just leave the mount hobbled as it is

Because its a hawk not a dragon…

Again mate, it’s a hawk, not a full dragon.

That still doesn’t make any sense since it was a giant bird to begin with.

It literally has nothing to do with the current issue.

Why would them altering the model be relevant.

And on that note, Fire Hawks are arguably dragons. We literally witness a dragon get turned into one.

Fire hawks are not dragons.

I took fire hawk off my fav list. It’s uncomfortably bugged visually atm
