Punishing failing needs to go

then you dedicate time to doing some research to find out how you can improve, reach out for help… find other people who struggle, and ask how they manage.

…or play the other 99.99% of the game

I played the launch of Cata, and saw quite a few healers start refusing to heal due to the changes made to healing. :woman_shrugging:

I was nearly one of them.

I dunno what game you were playing.

You mean the “99.99%” of the game that doesn’t matter really if you’re attempting to make any progress, because of the way WoW’s patch systems work right?

Neat. So if you struggle with visions, just go do something else… which will all be old outdated content, because of the way WoW’s patches work.

Might as well just unsub until Shadowlands then, because you aren’t getting anything new for practically a year. :woman_shrugging:

Why not just group up and do them?

you talk like that’s the only way to execute it. A much more exciting way would have been to put the focus entirely on these visions, instead of distracting us with hours of tedious crap that isn’t fun. After all, the visions were, and I’m saying it again, the BIG SELLING POINT for this patch. We were SOLD the idea that we’d be focusing on these visions, but we’re not. Instead of this vessel crap, they could have gone the route of “Alright champion, We’ve pushed further into the vision of this bleak future. Take some time to recover, but if you can, see what else we can find that might help us in the place you’ve pushed N’zoth’s minions from.”

Gating could have been disguised inside of the story progression, instead of this lazy meta lockout. This patch is dog crap sculped and painted to look like some grand adventure. the fun part should be the central part of the experience, not the joyless busywork needed to get there.

EDIT: and yes, the Withered training was a pain as well, but it was buffered a bit because they at least tried to work it into the narrative a bit more, and you could do it every day, instead of a small handful of times a week And the mana farming wasn’t nearly as drawn out as what we have to do here. you could literally get all the mana you needed by farming for fifteen minutes at the winery in Suramar. with the vessels, it’s literally just “tough cookies, now go back to grinding for a week, subscriber! Oh, by the way, did you pay us for 6 months so you could get the mount that got more effort put into it than this patch?”

Because finding people who want to waste their vessel on doing a lower level vision that you can handle for your cloak upgrades, requires someone else to sacrifice their vessel to help you, potentially for no upgrade. :woman_shrugging:

Quite the opposite, it’s the correct sort of tension.

Uh… because starting over a 10 minute fight at the 5 minute mark isn’t really what makes it tense.

Limited attempts and run throughs are what create the challenge. If you could memorize the run in a single afternoon, you’d call the content grindy and trivial, or Blizzard would be forced to make it really really deadly to compensate, to the point 90% of the player base would be unable to complete it after hundreds of attempts (aka Mythic raiding).

Currently, the “3-4 lives per week” model is what makes every run have the proper levels of tension → pay off for the relative tuning of the content (ie, doable by everyone).

I was gonna say nah, but it’s fine if it’s about the core of a new patch

but in terms of things like m+, shouldn’t be designed for the less capable at the expense of the ones who want to go balls to the wall

Wasted investment is never the correct kind of tension, especially in a game that you have to keep making payments on. When I play, I want to get the most out of my time and money spent, especially when my time is limited. I went into this with the mentality of “Alright! Let’s do this, and enjoy the new content!” Now I have the mentality of “Should I even bother? I mean, if I fail, my time will have been completely wasted. Bad enough the finale is less interesting than watching paint dry.”
I’m starting to wonder if you have some weird sort of masochism, if you enjoy tension over wasted real-world resources in a game.

Yes, it is.

Getting the actual vessels is trivial and takes but a few minutes / per day. There is no grinding, so it’s not really as punishing as you make it sound to be. It’s just on a daily/weekly lockout.

No, I just like video games where you actually get to see the “Game Over” screen. Because otherwise, I feel like I’m watching a movie rather than playing.

I assume you’re a cutting edge raider who’s going to try for World First.

No?

Yeah I thought so.

He does have a 2.4k raider io profile, so obviously, he does play at the higher end of the spectrum.

You know, little things you can check out before you make yourself look goofy.

Before you look goofy did you read my post where I didn’t mention raider io, Mythic+ or anything related to some dungeon runs?

I asked him about his Epic Mythic Kills in Raids.

Now being goofy is bad I know but it takes practice to be careful.

Yeah I read your goofy attack post that you find clever, but I pointed out why it’s not clever.

There’s quite a large spectrum of high end content in this game, and “the world first race hurrr durrr” is not the only thing there.

Imagine thinking raids are the only form of high end content anymore. Classic is a whole other game.

Obviously, practice you lacked as you failed to properly look up the person you’re attacking.

Anyone else here read these posts out loud in a funny or sassy voice? Like Jim Sterling’s commentacracy videos where he reads his youtube comments. Not just referring to the OP post only.

A goofy attack post on someone’s attack post which you as a nobody felt you had a moral responsibility to respond to. Yeah I see that logic.

And yeah World First Mythic Race is way harder than getting your raider io score to those levels.

Imagine talking about Classic and 14 year old content as though it even matters in retail forums.

And oh, good job getting triggered for randomly reading something else which didn’t even concern you.

The punishment is fine, I would like to be able to do trial runs instead of going in blind though.

Shaw rekt me /cry

I do to people whom seem to have zero empathy with those who have a harder time doing literally the core function of the expansion patch than they do. Then go tell people to just go play something else if they don’t like it. You know… the core point of the patch Just don’t do it. :woman_shrugging:

People are ridiculous I hate these visions but these corruptions are everywhere you basically have to do this stupid content. It’s about as far from optional as it gets. And honestly it’s just awful game design.

“But he started it!” is a rather poor excuse at incivility.

Maybe, but getting 2.4k IO is a feat you don’t seem to have accomplished on top of not having any raid kills to speak of and not having linked your posting toon to a “main”. So weird flex there guy.

Says the guy who felt the need to attack someone else because they didn’t like what they posted.

You owe me a new irony meter, the one I had just exploded.
