The only difference is that one’s “massively multiplayer online” that’s the ONLY thing that makes it different. MMO’s comes in all genres, and M-M-O-Role-Playing-Game is exactly what the game is?
Try to remove the RPG all you want, but that’s not going to happen because that’s what the game is.
Could you explain it to them a bit more, the difference between an RPG and an MMO-RPG. I think It’s crucial they understand the difference and I don’t think I’m doing the best job clarifying there.
Story informs every bit of how a class should play in combat.
The class of the character you are posting on only exists because it fit the story. If Azeroth was being invaded by Marshmellows and not demons, you’d be running around lighting basic campfires and using pointy sticks making s’mores.
Yes, and it should stand to reason that being massively multiplayer online makes a difference. What works in a pure RPG isn’t automatically going to work in WoW.
They wanted this class to exist, so they made a theme for it.
But It’s not like because Sargeras got locked away and the demons weakened that suddenly all my Demonic abilities get removed and I must only become a physical damage ninja or something…
Such nonsense.
This is the only time in WoW’s history that choosing a specific story arc will grant you extremely powerful abilities over other story arcs.
That’s because you’re making up arbitrary rules about what is and isn’t an RPG or an MMORPG. First you claims it’s because we “don’t make dice rolls” (we do, being a video game that system is hidden and executed automatically).
Then you say story shouldn’t inform combat, but then all of the abilities in game are informed by story.
You keep changing the “rules” to fit your narrative but every-time it’s just flawed.
The only thing that makes an MMORPG different from any other RPG is that it’s online to connect players together.
Sorry you want game that isn’t informed by story, you can do play pong I guess.
Story just informs the class where to go . It doesn’t tell what abilities should be used when combat is engaged at least not in wow. Now if this was DnD and the Dungeon master said to roll an attack roll then yes it would .
The post was directly above my quote, if you forgot the context between then you’ve got more problems than covenant abilities. Not to mention the “context” wasn’t changed from my reply. They literally said then thing, then replied to me doubling down even further on exactly what I had quoted. No context was lost.
Yes there is because it creates false choice. If Covenants were cosmetic only they would actually be a choice. Due to this being an mmo rather than a single player game your performance actually matters which means you don’t get to make a choice.
