Pull more?

Why is it always the dps doing low damage, butt pulling, and not using kicks/defensives that scream about pull sizes?

Every good tank will do a pull or two and access the group from there. They are not pulling big specifically because the group cant handle it. Healing too low, dps too low, mechanics not being followed, a dps constantly pulling extra or some combination.

Wnat me to pull big? Show me you can handle it.

If they wanna pull for the tank then I just let them suffer the consequences. I won’t heal them. Just because they’re impeding progress. They may think they’re helping but they’re just making things a lot harder than it needs to be.

Cant do good dps if you dont make the pulls big enough for it ;]

Funny enough, the last several dungeons I’ve run where pulling has been an issue has been the tank and the healer causing the issue.

DPS vastly outnumber everyone else so it’s only natural they’ll cause an issue more frequently.

Well, from the other side perspective. No decent dps will send all cds into 2 mob pull. So ofc they will do :poop: dps. And then you base your pulls on that and there you go…dps sitting cds and doing nothing and you moaning on forums that dps dont do dmg…

Honestly this has been a problem this season, if you have one DPS that simply is terrible in your key, it can easily lead to a deplete because of how tight they made the timers.

This has been an issue since time immemorial.

It is always an issue from all sides.

As the Tank, and arguably the de-facto leader of the group, all you have to do is set the tone and assess. Ignore everything else.

But also as a tank, my rules of thumb are:

  • Regardless of baddies, if you are pulling and never having to use active mitigation CDs during the pulls, or your health never goes below 50%, then you are NOT pulling enough.
  • Doesn’t matter if DPS is not enough, or they are also pulling, or whatever other variables. If DPS and Heals are bored, its on you. Busy people do not have time to complain and type: “Pull More”.
  • “Good” healthy pulls involve being at risk of dying as a tank. MANAGEABLE RISK mind you, not more than you can handle, but risk nonetheless. And unless you have an OOM healer, or close to, chain-pulling should be always happening. DPS get “hot” streaks, and CD’s align better when doing this. And as a consequence, things die faster.

In truth most tanks DO “underpull” more than they should, because they like to save CDs to REACT, rather than actively use them as they keep pulling. People will pop a Shield Wall for an “oh sh*&^” moment, then stop pulling as soon as the pack dies, and waste the other 6 seconds of mitigation for no reason.

Too many tanks don’t understand that your job should be to be comfortable with the idea of living in a state of “health never above 70%” at all times.

Because DPS and healers don’t want to waste their cooldowns on 3 villagers.

If you tank that way, you are the problem.

its only an issue when a player doesnt fill their intended role but expect others to fill theirs and cover for the player not filling their role too.
