The runs made it to the last Boss but we cant kill the boss as our healer run out of mana as everything on cd on him LOL. Weak DPS, weak heals, whatever?
Before the run, I saw a party member at ilevel 205 with 900 io score… really at M+14? The other one is with a healer at 900 io score. I cant do anything. Almost all groups I join on a PuG, there is someone being carried. I cant really carry them enough although I know I could stand at my own feet. I am not the one who assembled the group as it is not my key.
Anyway, after these failed runs, I started to use my own M+14 key. I assembled a group with members all above ilevel 215 and above ilevel 1100 io score with a Kyrian on NW+14. I have a group with Brez and someone else that could do Lust since I hate to gimp my DPS if I do the lust. And you know what happened? The fights were all smooth… few deaths but manageable and no wipe. Tyrannical Bosses fights were long but all of us were hard to kill so in the end, we won.
When it’s hard to carry the keyholder on a PuG especially on Tyrannical weeks, it’s really easier to just use your own key and assemble your perfect group instead.
But most of the time on me, there are lots of keys same as mine on Dungeon Finder. So instead of making mine, I just tend to join them instead. I dont mind carrying them until I gave up today when those runs were on a group that cant kill the End Tyrannical Boss.
As I’ve said before, I like to have that element of thrill and suspense by signing up to +14 pugs blindfolded not checking anybody’s gear or IO in the group I’m doing the dungeon with beforehand. Sometimes I’ll look at their IO when the run is over and occasionally I’ll come across someone undergeared or less than 1K. Maybe they are alts but i’s a good feeling can pull it off timing the key under those circumstances just being able to rise to the challenge of it all.
What if your guildie or someone you play with normally has an off day? Same scenario as above. You are going to squeeze every bit out of yourself to ensure the group can still succeed.
Yeah, I guess because it’s late in the tier, but I’ve never seen it this bad. Not one good player queue by himself. Its ALWAYS 1.5k healer, 203 no score dps queue together. Or you get big tank, and scrub healer queue together. Every key.
It’s the design of the game now, to make it harder to break in. It’s intended to produce more paid carries = more profits. So it’s good for Blizzard. Not feeling it?
Was it outgear? It is more on the spot io score. The group I have has io score between 1050 to 1200. Too bad, I didnt get someone at 1800 score. It’s just I was handicapped whenever I PuG with someone else’s key. And failed miserably particularly on the last Boss. And this time with my key, I have the correct group. Did we faceroll it? Nope. We bleed to it… spent long time to kill high hp Tyrannical bosses. But becoz we are competent (not a scrub carry), we were able to beat it.

I remember one time, I confronted they keyholder, I said why is this DPS ilevel 200 on M+13 or M+14? He said “it’s becoz it’s my key”. It was not Tyrannical so I stayed and did my best to carry that guy.
Whenever I PuG who always have a carry guy, the group is undergeared. And when I used my own key like last night, I fixed it by assembling correctly geared players.
It is more like this: When you PuG, most of the time the group is handicapped. To prevent handicapped group especially on Tyrannical weeks, use your own key.
I only have one key. Even if I use my own key, it is still a PuG. I need to fill at least 4x completed runs on my Vault to get a sure upgrade. I dont have an active guild (my guild is sleeping since Legion) and I dont have friends since after WoTLK. But I dont need them, I just need to PuG everything like what I did on Legion and BFA where I reached M+15.
BTW, I have 20 consecutive weeks of UPGRADE on the vault. I need 1x more M+14 this week and I would have a good shot of getting 21th consecutive weeks of Upgrade on Vault. It is all PuGs on Dungeon Finder.
Am I bad? I signed up to SOA Tyrannical on 14, and we got stuck on Ventunax because the dot killed me through all my personals and always targetted me. The key disbanded because the key holder thought that I couldn’t dodge the balls.
