Public Work Orders

Why can we still not set a minimum quality for public work orders?

I believe that is was mentioned in an interview during the Dragonflight expansion.

The reason being is to stimulate communication in the World of Warcraft.

The second reason I remember being given was it allows low level crafters the ability to have crafts with all materials attached.

Personally don’t mind the fact that public orders are not set with crafting quality requirements.

Those are stupid reasons. I guess I won’t be using the system again. Twice now, I have provided max quality mats and an ample tip only to not receive the quality that I asked for. Now, I have get more mats and find someone to recraft to the quality that I originally asked for. It’s just aggravating.

If you care about the quality, you should use an order that lets you specify a minimum quality above rank one next time.

If the system is stupid, what about the person that used it with expensive mats while unable to set a quality rank?

Public orders - you set the fee, you don’t set the quality.

Private orders - you set the quality, you don’t set the fee.

You can’t, and for the health of the economy, shouldn’t have your cake and eat it too. Giving public orders minimum qualities would absolutely destroy private orders and any ability for crafters to charge a fair fee for their effort and time spent levelling the profession. Crafting is a two way street; it’s not designed entirely around the convenience of the buyer - it also intended as a pillar of gameplay for the seller too. :dracthyr_shrug:

the problem with not being able to set quality is there are NO public orders at all ever, at least on my server

That’s because peoples got wiser and found a crafter to do there item.

Because then people would use it to make it so only the best of the best crafters could ever participate in the public work order system.

You can mitigate it slightly by applying an optional reagent in the slot(s) that require the most knowledge point investment for a crafter to create, but you’d still run the risk of getting a person who’s only invested just enough points into making the item with the optional reagent and not a person who has filled out all the KP available for making that item the best they possibly can.

You put a order up as public you didn’t ask for anything but for your order to be done and to be at the mercy of a random person to do as they please to your craft. Try using trade chat and communicate with a crafter directly ffs it’s not rocket science nor is it hard to do.

Because if they added that, everyone would only request R5 and thats it.

There are no good reasons for not being able to set a minimum rank.

In DF there was a good, systemic reason why you couldn’t (the random nature of the rank 5 upgrade lottery) - this system isn’t in place anymore.

All other given reasons are weak at best. Supply and demand would take care of most of the concerns listed in this thread.

No it wouldn’t, again everyone would just set it to R5 only so only those that almost completely finished their Knowlage would ever be able to make things. They tried it in Beta, it was a complete disaster.
