The argument is that if they allow, everyone will just ask for R5.
Lower the material cost for each craft and make each rank of item a material requirement for the next.
Itll stop people just sitting on their resources until someone can guarantee R5 and public orders could easily be set requesting a particular rank.
That is absolutely disgusting and also completely negates any sort of profession skill since you always need to make the item 3-5 times.
How does it negate the profession skill?
You need higher skill and knowledge to make the higher ranks, random new crafter could only do rank 1/2, so if a 3 to 5 was up on public orders you’d need a higher skilled crafter to fill the order.
I’ve seen people spamming trade all day waiting for someone to make a R5 item for them, where with a rank by rank system they could have been using a lower rank already instead of just waiting for their guaranteed R5.
But that’s good. It will allow the person who specialised to get that order.
Because regardless of skill you have to make it 3-5 times, dumping mats into the inferno for bad quality items that you have the skill and mats to make better instead.
No, it’s not. If you want specific quality, join a guild or find a crafter. If you want no socialization and quick, use public order.
Because they want “server identity” for the bestest crafters >.<
Public orders are indeed for fast fulfillment without care for quality per this Interview.
In a later interview (March 2023), they said this…
What was the first 4 words you quoted me saying?
Lower the material cost of crafting… So you’d be using the exact same amount overall, so no materials lost.
The Game Director said they were meant to be quick and without regard to quality. /shrug
Interesting, as that’s not what the literal game told us, introduced to us in the quests, nor how my server does it.
Are you talking PO or just WO?
That’s actually not at all what they were meant to be. It’s simply what people turned it into.
Oh let’s see what Blizzard says.
- Want it quickly
- Don’t care about quality
wow, the exact same thing I said and I was able to infer this easily from the actual design.
but muh quest text
lol. lmao, even
Well they can’t be bothered to follow what Timewalking was supposed to be, so why follow anything else, I guess.
As it should be. Nobody should be fulfilling work orders if they aren’t making a max rank.
I try to do most of my crafting orders in Guild but there have been times when none of my friends could make what I needed. In those cases it would have been nice to just post a Public Order at the Rank I desired instead of spamming Trade.
But I get Blizz’s rationale in limiting how Public Orders work so I’d love to get some kind of system to replace Trade chat when looking for a crafter. It’s silly that we’re still using such an antiquated design for connecting crafters and buyers.
But…does that happen anymore? I haven’t seen a crafter with “server identity” since BC.
Don’t necro threads when you’ve already got one about this subject.
Wrong tab.
Lighten up, Francis.
Yeah… no
When you have multiple threads open, and you go to post. An option pops up asking which thread you are viewing to post on.
I think it’s to force people to talk to crafters verses a fully automated system.
I would rather just have PO’s have quality requirements and the crafter can decide if they don’t want to do the WO.
I’d be happy to slam a 5-10k tip if it means I don’t have to talk to anyone (and provide all max quality mats).
Not in a different tab, lol. New to computers?
