In theory, it is a good idea to allow public crafting orders without including all mats, but in reality, now the order system is flooded with jerks who are trying to get people to craft their stuff (i.e. Island rare spawn items) without providing the materials for virtually free.
On my inscriber this morning, I was please to see there was about 100 items listed in public, until I went through them and saw there was a crapload of peeps wanting the crafters to create dragon skins, treaties, etc. for basically free, again, without providing mats…
Please… revert this change. Public orders should require ALL materials be provided! We have trade chat if other arrangements need to be made. At least then, the public system isn’t swamped by the freeloaders.

Get the No Mats, No Make addon. It lets you filter out orders that are missing mats.

It’s just like the annoying AH undercutters. They’re hoping to get someone off guard. I believe there’s addons to filter out the no mats provided orders, but that shouldn’t be the solution.

I may make toons with garbage skill just to make leatherworking patterns at the lowest possible rank but even then that means they get a free item… even if it is garbage.

Do you know the actual addon name? I tried all sorts of filter strings to find it on Curseforge and not having any luck finding something.
EDIT: ok, the have materials option turns out to be if the crafter has the materials… OMFG… Please… revert this silly thing or at least give us the option to only show orders where they have not provided materials if we are feeling generous!
Or just add them to the ignore list and you never have to deal with them or group with them ever.
Except some people who don’t supply mats actually offer enough of a tip to make it worth crafting.
I’ve had people put orders up with no mats with a 10,000g tip before, where the mats cost like 2k.
If you won’t take that order, I sure the hell will. Yes, I’ll accept that order, take 3 minutes to run to the auction house, buy the mats, run back to the table, and craft it for them for 8,000g profit. Why the hell wouldn’t I? Lol.
What Blizzard needs to do is make it so if you don’t supply mats in a Public Work Order, there should be a minimum tip required of like 2500g or so, since very few things require mats less than that. Make it a minimum of like 5000 if it requires Artisan’s Mettle.
If you want to tip less than that, you need to supply your own mats.
Speaking as a Leatherworker, uh… what public crafting order? I haven’t seen one this entire expansion.
