Why does every other classes burst not require any form of resource but we have to generate 90 sanity while losing dps with devouring plague.

Everything feels so clunky, i.e. [Unfurling Darkness] [Damnation] like what.
Devouring plague should also just refresh/extend dots already on the target and 3 yrd radius since all im doing is dotting for majority of aoe tgts (3…)
and we lose that baseline with our void bolts when we can use it every 1.5min after losing dps with devouring plague to get to 90 sanity. : ))
Also lost all hps with dots. This is dooodooooooo.
for the love of god at least make devouring plague extend dots like voidform did. Or are you just gonna bake it into a legendary…
Might as well take out mind sear if it’s going to be like that…

I assume the Void Form CD requires insanity because it’s still also a damaging move. I think most people agree they want the insanity requirement to be 0, and perhaps they would be willing to change that, but maybe they’d want the aoe component removed to compensate?

Should be reduced for sure, not sure it should be removed. You can’t really compare it to other CDs because it isnt like other CDs and gives you more than just an damage increase.

Yea I’m playing around with the changes right now.
Building up insanity so you can use DP is the “goal” but I keep using DP right before Void Eruption and then just go… damn it! grr. lol.
Like I get so focused on getting that insanity so I can spend it, I forget I need to use my DPS CD first. Its a bit jarring.
Side note…
You can cast Searing Nightmare while Flaying. You don’t need to be Searing.
Also, this works great for searing insanity.

The devs said that they feel Shadow should have damage ramp up time associated with it. Void Form just took waaaaay too long to ramp up (Upwards of 2 minutes before you did as much damage as anyone else).
Having 5-8 seconds of ramp time is annoying, but only a real issue when your group Lusts right at the start of a pull. Since you lose a bit of value from it. Though this is mitigated a bit since Voidform’s duration is considerably less than Lust, so you’ll be Lusted for the entire Voidform either way.
Forgetting to activate your CD before spending Insanity is just a muscle memory thing, it won’t be an issue after a week or so of playing the spec.

The issue is more once you enter at 90 you’re greeted with two fresh spells off cd that will overcap you, which just feels wrong.
I want entering VF to be, Erupt, VB, MB, DP, and go from there. Right now it’s Erupt, DP, MB, VB

Totally get where you are coming from, and a pretty simple fix to this would be make entering Voidform Cost 50 Insanity and also apply Devouring Plague.
I’m just saying that a lot of this might be because we still have our expectations from the old Voidform, so it might become less awkward as we get used to the new rotation. It’s a possibility though you are probably going to end up being right. Bringing both those abilities off CD just to not use them for a few globals is weird.
Yeah that’s fair, I could see them dropping it to like 60.
I’d still honestly rather have Voidform just tied to the LoTV talent and have our baseline cool down be Dark Archangel.
But that’s not likely to ever happen so I’d also settle for just having the Sanity gate to enter VF reduced to 50/60.

From a flavour perspective I’d also like to leave the void behind, but honestly I really like what this void form actually does, I just wish bliz would fix devouring plague to give us space or reason to get that value from it.
If VF was replaced with DA, I’d want da to turn into mind spike for the duration (Which doesn’t remove dots and functions as void bolt). Cooldowns unlocking spells is a super interesting design space, especially when those spells provide additional resource gen, one I hope they explore.

I would personally just prefer it to not give us a rotation ability at all. As a bonus we could just generate one extra Shadowy Apparition from MB/DP during Archangel.
But I wouldn’t be mad about it if it was like what you described either. In general I’m pretty open to just about anything that isn’t the LoTV style SPriest. Lol

I guess it’s a preference thing. One of the big things I think most cooldowns lack is viscerality. You pop it and you’re either doing the same thing slightly faster, or the same thing and it’s hitting harder. This is different, I like that 
Just need devouring plagues to stack or overlap so we can put that different rotation to good use.

Yea, I’m a really simplistic type of person. I enjoy things that aren’t complex because I tend to be able to focus better on my surroundings that way. (Not that I think current Shadow is ridiculously or overly complex.)
I also just… hate Voidform with a passion. I’m still salty about losing my main to it back in Legion so seeing it gone entirely from the base kit is just wishful thinking for me. Lol
I’m pretty happy overall with the current Shadow Priest though, so I’m not going to let VF as our cool down deter me.

Here is a levitate / Mind Soothe macro that works pretty good for those that want to bind it to the same button.

/use [@mouseover,harm]Mind Soothe;[@mouseover,help]Levitate;Levitate
This makes it so your normal button press casts levitate. You do this regardless of your target be it friend/foe. It also casts Levitate if you “mouseover” an ally. But if you “Mouseover” an enemy, it will cast Mind Soothe instead.
