It isn’t a better system than what we currently have, is my argument. It doesn’t fix any of the current problems we have except for removing the incentive for boosts. All it does is make us worse in PvE.
good idea implemented poorly, classic blizz. all it does it make pvp gear bad in pve. that’s it. pve gear still more competitive than it should be in pvp.
the rating ilvl system still in place which no one asked for except for rose-tinted morons wanting a terrible system from a previous expansion. it’s so bad.
I think it is a better system than we currently have, just not good enough.
At least it’ll prevent cheats like Trill getting 2400 real quick and starting mythic raid prog with his bis 233 weap before even setting foot in there.
If it were me, ALL PvP gear just stay at 200 ilvl in PvE and get auto increased to 259 in PvP with no rating wall. Or bring back resilliance.
I think people are under the mistaken belief that most of those getting boosted were simply PVE people who wanted easier gear. I’d be willing to bet MAAANNYY were simply pvp’ers that wanted to actually be able to play competitively without grinding 24 hours/day. Personally, I’m not in support of it and wouldn’t pay for a boost, but it says something when so many people see that as their only way to gear up and play at a fair level.
Honestly, 1800 in this season (especially if you’re undergeared) with rating deflation rampant is pretty decent. I believe there was a post showing that 1740 was like top 10 percentile. That used to be the old rival requirement (finish the season within the top 10 percent of the active ladder), but unlike this season the rating required for that usually started around 2k (depending on the season).
Starting a raid prog with weapons BETTER than what you can get FROM THE LAST BOSS OF SAID RAID is a bit of a cheat. Being the best player in the game (which I 100% think he is) shouldn’t net him his final weapon in the first week of the season.
how is it cheating…? he played multiple forms of content, not his fault blizzard cant figure out how to make gear work with synergy after like 17 years.
agree that boosting isn’t gonna go down much from this change
the main boosting motivations are power for rating and pvp gear being a huge shortcut to top tier pve gear and these changes just aren’t a very big delta to kill the motivation
however ladder-wise the other issue is virtually no reward if you are 1400 or under, that isn’t being addressed much either
need a healthy bottom half of the ladders to dilute the carries/pilots
It shouldn’t, but it is. Right now, once you break 1800 and start working your way to 2k, you will be playing many games against Duelists, Gladiator’s and rank 1s. Hope you’re at least a duelist level player (skill-wise) and have minimum 220ilvl. If you don’t have both of those boxes checked, as well as your partner(s), you can almost forget about hitting 2100. Especially in 2s.
I’m not saying he’s hacking the game with a game genie kind of cheating, I’m saying the weapon he started off with because of Blizzard’s crappy pvp itemization gave him an unfair advantage over other DPSers who didn’t have it in the DPS department in the RWF
I explained it… weapon ilvl is by far the biggest source of DPS boost for melees.
Starting a prog race with weapons you won’t ever need to upgrade for the rest of the season because it’s better than Mythic Sire Danny weapons shouldn’t be a thing.
