PTR Patch Notes - WoW Classic Version 1.13.5

Can’t try new strats when half your team is botting/afking/leeching. 15-20 vs 35-40 doesn’t really pan out to a win.

AV changes came way too late should have been 3-4 months ago. All this is going to do is make games even longer.

Cuz we didn’t try the first 5 months.

I’ve played hundreds of AVs, there’s no “new” strat that will magically balance the field. At this point, after months and months and months of imbalance the Alliance and Horde are there for completely different reasons. Horde show up with average rank 7 and nearly 40 motivated players (yes, you do sometimes see a Hordie afk). Alliance shows up in greens average rank 3 and no reasonable expectation of winning – they are there for rep because that’s what they can get! Once you hit exalted, you don’t go back if it’s not AV weekend or you are just popping in for potions.

Horde don’t understand that.

After months of getting trashed because the map they now blame it on us giving up as if we haven’t tried to win for months.

Even in most games I’m in on my hunter we trash the horde for an hour at SHGY and we frequently cap IBGy but we will never hold it.

It has nothing to do with how good the horde think they are, it’s the map and only the map. I can go win any other BG pug vs pug.

AV for Ally is a rep grind, and for Horde a honor grind.

Both factions play the map to maximize their relative goals. It is predominantly rep for Ally because winning is fundamentally impossible. I’m about to hit Exalted and have won once since starting the grind.

You also see a difference of players, Horde have multiple Thunderfurys, Hands, everyone geared, with epic mounts, and pushing to ensure a 30 minute win. This is because it’s worth it to weave into your BG rotation and awards ~10k honor/game.

Ally have multiple 60% mounts, 51-59 players, lots of green gear, and just try to hold SHGY for as much rep as possible.

What would actually be hilarious is if now once druids start to run all Ally /afk out and end the game for both teams

It would be better rep/hr to get crystals until the druids go, afk out and requeue after deserter.

Right, and the reason this is happening is because 15-20 of the Alliance players are leeches/bots/rep farmers. If you fix this problem you are left with actual players. Actual players trying to win. Players would come back in mass if they knew they could get a fair fight. Even if the gear balance is a little off you have a higher chance at winning with 35-40 active players when compared to only 20ish active players. No geared players find it fun to be then 1-3 people carrying the leeches on their back so they don’t queue. Fix the problem and people will come back.

Not even remotely true.

My hunter has done about 5 AVs a week for the last 2 weeks and all games are over an hour, alliance are all trying to take IBGY and when that fails we hold druids for rep.

Your opinion of how Alliance play is 100% that, an opinion.

I came from the horde side. I know both sides of the game. The horde cave Rez is beyond overpowered. If you don’t understand that as a horde player, you have no idea how AV is played.

Considering how fast the Ally AV meta changed once holding the druids was discovered, I don’t think it would take all that long for folks to come back to AV if the expected rewards tilted to more reasonable honor per hour.

And don’t fool yourself about exactly who are the leeches and bots or that somehow the general Horde player base would not do the same thing in the same situation.

Which would free up logistical effort to worry about maybe taking care of the bots?

Very optimistic, but more likely it will just free up more resources so they can lay off even more support staff.

What’s funny is I came from horde when alliance could premade.

You should of seen horde AV chat them, they all gave up as quickly as anyone else. It was all about just getting what they could get before they lost

Horde don’t realize it’s the SAME PLAYER BASE. Both sides are the exact same. If horde were on the Alliance position they would be doing the exact same thing, because they did the exact same thing.

I just stated “I hit exalted and won one game.” Do you think that’s a Horde W/L?

I have 60s on both sides and play AV actively on both sides.

Most of our games start with “This game is a rep grind gogogo.” Followed by “let’s try to win plz,” after which whoever suggests that gets flamed. Over half our team runs straight to SHGY to hold and maybe 10 go IBGY.

I also never stated anything about the cave. I qualified it’s almost impossible to win as ally, which is a multivariate issue that can’t be pinned to a single map issue.

“Let’s try to win plz” is ALWAYS someone who is not lvl 60 and really wants the free blue weapon. ALWAYS.

How about moving the Horde Starting Cave south? Don’t wait until the burning crusade. This needs to be done now!

I better finish off my AV rep

Seriously, how long is it supposed to take to copy a toon over?

You have to realize that what you’re seeing is a result of months of losing.

It’s like you have 2 ways to walk home. You walk the same way everyday and a stray dog is always there and he bites your leg, how long till you give up on that way home and decide to take the other route??

In this scenario the version of walking home where the dog bites you is trying to win AV.

The other path of walking home is just grinding rep.

If alliance had a 40% chance to win do you think we would be holding druids or not trying to win?

Huh… it’s almost like this exact issue was brought up when it was originally discovered that the threat API had been removed from classic. Shocking…

I realize this, I started Ally and have been at it awhile. Thus my statement of it being fundamentally impossible to win catalyzing the current scenario.
