That’s it. PTR is a bad idea and it’s a way that Blizzard uses you as free labor.
PTR shouldn’t exist unless it’s a new game and being tested in beta.
Expansions and future content should not hit the players until the expansion drops.

People want to play on the PTR, how is it free labor lmao
…how is it labor when people actually want to play it?
Let’s assume they did have really good QA (which they don’t). They would still miss a lot of problems that can only be found with lots of players doing lots of unexpected things.
My biggest problem is most of the main issues/problems for Shadowlands was identified during beta by the community but Blizzard didn’t take any steps to resolve most of them.
WoW player logic: WoW does it X way therefore it’s the best.
No. PTR is a bad idea and people shouldn’t be allowed to access it. All content release on drop of expansion with no one having any idea of where or what to do.
I’m not sure I agree, but I do wonder about just who plays a lot on the PTR. I downloaded it just to see the new VE hair colors, downloaded the 8.2 to see the new Worgen models, but it seems silly to actually play on it when you’re just gonna retread everything when the patch comes out. Those people are doing a service though, or at least trying to (I know there’s a problem with the company listening to them), so I can’t be too harsh about it.
I have a problem with betas too. I got the D3 necro beta, made a perfect necro, then lost any enthusiasm to make one the hard way when the patch dropped. I got into BfA’s and deliberately didn’t play it so that wouldn’t happen again. 8.0 was a dumpster fire and I unsubbed until 8.1, maybe I’d have saved a few bucks if I’d seen it coming but whatever I guess.
Do you want more bugs, because this is how you get more bugs
FF doesn’t seem to face this issue. Yet they have no PTR.
Final fantasy has better quality control
If you like final fantasy go play final fantasy
So your argument is:
You: Well this how they reduce bugs
Me: Other MMOs do the same thing and don’t have PTR
You: WELL GO PLAY THEM!
Again it’s really hard to distinguish the average WoW White Knight and a Battered Housewife talking about their abusive husband.
Its not hard at all to identify someone who is obviously dissatisfied with a product but continues to pay for it.
Your opinion is not a popular one. People like the PTR
If Blizzard actually had a full blown testing team, they could probably get away without having public testing. But seeing the number of broken features and stuff that is just untested that makes it into the game, with play testing going on. I say we keep the PTR for the time being.
More than just a testing team, a documentation team as well. Also a consistent combat design language. FF14 has an entire company managed wiki that explains literally everything in the game. They don’t need a wowhead.
I disagree with that to an extent. Sure they should explain new game mechanics and have far better patch notes but they without a doubt shouldn’t be doing their own content guides or fight break downs. Hell most people won’t even open the adventures guide in game before they try and raid…
I’ll agree to disagree, I consider it a security issue. We shouldn’t have to go to a third party add supported site to get game information. As for fight breakdowns that’s a design language issue, AFAIK the wiki for FF14 doesn’t have those. Just the fight language is such that you have no excuse not to know the mechanics.
Imho,it’s catch 22,good to allow for feed back(if listen too) and advertising .Bad,in that the cheaters would have first hand on all the bugs and flaws that they could use to their advantage. The people that are hurt the most stuck in the middle .We either don’t want to see it for spoiling the excitement before hand or just don’t care to know the in’s and out of it when people stream it.
Well they already include that in the in game guide, which most just ignore anyways.
FF14 or WoW? Because the fight design language is massively different. In FF14 they explicitly draw out keep out zones, stack circles etc. then the attack hits. In WoW they don’t and you have to read the guide to understand what killed you.
Then don’t donate your time, and I’m guessing you have a ton of it, judging by this post lol
Simple right?
You know they don’t force anyone to participate on the ptr right?
