I don’t know how you can be frustrated, they stated it could be delayed or cancelled at any time … they clearly put a disclosure on there when they announced it in the first place
It’s less about the delay itself, and more about the communication given about the delay.
they don’t have to tell us anything since they were completely transparent in the beginning of the announcement
And now they’re not. They said “temporary delay” it’s bee over 2 days. That sure is one hell of a delay, which is why I made the post asking if it’s even going to happen this week, next week, next month etc etc.
I know its sucks but " it is what it is""
I immediately assumed the delay meant “We’ll do the test another time.” Even if I wanted it to just be a few hours.
No. The purpose of Beta Test is to expose the software to a bigger customer base with the understanding that it is testing.
For example, say they were selling software that was used by banks, insurance companies, investment firms, etc. They would release it to beta test and the IT people at various companies would run it on their own test systems. They wouldn’t put it into production.
This is because IT people know that Beta test is software that has yet to be tested outside the company. They are doing this to help the company find bugs. In return they establish relationships that might help if a critical problem came later in production.
During my career I was on both sides of that issue, doing IT work for a large insurance company then working as a software engineer for a computer manufacturer. On both sides of the coin we all knew beta test was a test. A chance to weed out bugs.
Seeing as how it was supposed to shut down tomorrow and it still hasn’t even begun yet, I think it’s safe to say we aren’t getting the PTR Housing test.
