[PTR]Baine stuff ally side

so i didn’t know where to put these so i will just drop ip here.
after finally able to complete the time gated quest of the war table and failing 5 times because it was bugged.

Basically, it appears that the horde put a lot of effort to prevent the spies.
Would be part of sylvana’s plan that the PC would be send?
i am not sure if this is the end of it, maybe it is.

thoughts?

My gut feeling it this whole thing is a display set up by Sylvanas to sell Baine’s actions as authentic. She seems decidedly calm for someone who has had her trump card stolen and this is a very showy demonstration in a place the Alliance couldn’t miss it. I think Baine has gotten played.

I think it is very likely that Derek has already been programmed. I suspect he doesn’t realise that. Just cause Sylvanas said he would be conditioned doesn’t mean she might not use some hidden form of compulsion. After all the best chance for Derek to cause damage would be after the Proudmoores let down their guard. She did say the idea was for him to kill them in their sleep.

The chink in her plan might be Calia. Wether she knew about Calia or not it is quite possible she didn’t foresee Derek being sent to Calia. At least I have a feeling that is what Blizzard is going for.

For the record I despise the character of Calia with every fibre of my being and is that part of reality that her narrative existence takes up was erased, I would be thrilled. Sadly she is an official part of Blizzard’s lore and therefore a part that we must take into consideration.

What Naga is Jaina talking about? Did they start attacking already?

Yes, there are naga attacking the shores of kultiras, new world quests
halford also states after we learn about ashvane that naga attacks are on the rising.

and to be fair, naga have been attacking fort daelien non-stop.

yes but i also feel like is way too elaborated and risky plan and i dobut that this would be enough to win the war.

as a minor note, there is a random void portal in the ship but maybe is just a bug.

I mean, Derek could sneeze on Jaina and instantly kill her if that’s what Blizzard wanted.

The sheer spectacle of the entire thing (while making sure the Alliance know “Big thing happening here better find out what!”) from Sylvanas of all people is suspicious and I’d be more intrigued if it didn’t feel like Blizzard was getting closer to the gotcha! moment they’ve been working up to.

I’m honestly intrigued by what Derek can do against the alliance. I don’t see anything extraordinary on this plan.

maybe derek will do us all a favor and end calia?

This would be great.

Now that’s a Sylvanas redemption plot I could get behind.

i mean… you are right.
derek kills jania… and that turns the entire war in favor of the horde, why exactly? because the writers decided it.

finally something that we all can agree (?

We can hope. We can fervently hope.

It wasn’t mean to be a “And then the war was over!” example, it was an “It doesn’t matter how over the top and risky something is if Blizzard decides it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen” thing.

An entire raid of the horde was not allowed to kill Jaina. I doubt derek will do that. He will probably kill his mother and destroy the kultiras fleet in the process. (Ops, wrong reply  )

One of my theories is that Derek not only isn’t brainwashed, Sylvanas never really meant for him to be. The whole plot was to bait Baine into doing something she could use as a pretext for getting rid of him.

Baine was always going to be a threat to Sylvanas’s plans (and as we’ll see once the 8.1 Vol’jin quest has gone live, is getting closer to the secret of why Sylvanas was made Warchief), so getting rid of him makes sense as a way to protect those plans. It also would have to be done in a way that wouldn’t prompt the other Horde leaders to rebel immediately.

There’s a slightly modified version of this where Derek is brainwashed to assassinate someone, but the primary objective was still to get rid of Baine.

While I’d love to believe this is all part of an impressive Sylvanas plan, I am reminded that Teldrasiil could have also been a much deeper moment for all of Warcraft lore than just Sylvanas deciding “This will be the wound to break the Alliance!”.

So it’s entirely possible this is just Blizzard doubling down on the “Sylvanas is now Garrosh with nicer bewbs” thing.

If he attacked her directly for sure. She is far to experience with combat to be easily taken down from a frontal attack. A knife in the back when she isn’t expecting it however would be very effective. Even the greatest warrior is defenceless in their sleep.

indeed,no one is safe from a dagger in the neck or being literally one shotted like sylvanas or jaina did in the past, in the end is whatever the writers decide.

i doubt she is gonna die, she takes him to the person who can relate to him (calia) after she gets him back in 8.1.5 and jaina is present in 8.2 which takes place some time after that

Honest question… why does everyone hate Calia?

me ? not really i just don’t care much about her.
i more or less want that she lightforge some alliance heros but at the same time the concept is kinda… lets say stupid.

As for your question, i guess that calia represents everything that is wrong with the forsaken narrative and they want her as far away possible from forsaken or horde identity.
