PTR 10.0.7 Error #0 Assertion Failure

Good afternoon,

I wasn’t sure if I should be posting this here or on the PTR servers. Ever since the new version of the PTR hit on Tuesday (2/28/23) I have been receiving the following Error when I hit play:

I’m getting the same error. I sent info to tech support and they just told me they didn’t care basically because it is PTR. Not only that, but the cut and paste info from their “Game Master” response has information dating back to Cataclysm. This does not exactly fill me with confidence.

One thing I noticed is that in the WoW folder in Program Files, the WTF folder is going outside the PTR folder in its own folder. This looks weird and wrong, but I am not an IT professional and do not know what it means. I tried repair, reinstalling, physically removing old files, moving the WTF folder into the PTR folder, changing DIrectX 12 to 11, etc etc. Nothing works.

Thank you for the response. I too tried what you did and still nothing.

Oh well.

There is another thread about this and we verified that the OP and I both had the same NVIDIA driver, which is 531.18. Check and see if that is your driver, too. It’s the latest game ready driver, so probably it is the reason we’re having issues. I put in some feedback directly to GeForce Experience.

I’ll look into it. Thanks

I was able to find a solution to get in the PTR. Go to the PTR folder and look for the WowT application. Change it from WowT to Wow. Double click on it and the game will pop up. You will have to enter your email, password and authenticator code (if you have it) manually. It does not open with the battler.net app.

Hope this helped as a temporary solution.
