It’s not hidden per-say just turned off. I too wonder what else was done this way.

Is there in-game option to turn it on? Because I use this in retail, and it’s been bothering me immensely to not have it active in Classic.

I want to clarify — “turned off” to me means the default is it being unchecked. Hidden is using a script or whatever to activate it.

Personally I went out and got Prat (addon for chat) because it not only does this, but it also puts a timestamp and fades out older comments unless I want to actively scroll up.

Yes, I use addons.

Only downside is that shaman are pink.

Not a fan of the timestamps, but another thing prat does is add the level before the character name. It doesn’t work 100% of the time, but it’s close enough.

In retail theyre blue. In classic theyre pink like paladins.

Guess it was always that way then, but idk because i never used them.

Yeah, I’m playing mostly horde and that threw me off quite a bit.

This no longer works, instead you need to right click on the chat window and go to settings and enable class colors by channel. Just a PSA for anyone who might be wondering why this isn’t working for them anymore with the latest patch

This no longer works on Classic Era.

In WotLK, you can find the settings in the chat menu. But classic era servers do not have that same settings menu.

Pls fix!

They really do need to introduce a classic+ with all these little qol things. They should introduce the new retail UI options as well. Cuts back addons.
