PSA: You can run Darkmaul Citadel more than once

For the Transmog collectors out there:

When you do Exile’s Reach and get to the end, Tunk drops some weapons that may or may not have unique appearances (I haven’t confirmed this). If you’re unsure about missing them, or you know for a fact they’re unique and know you’d miss them, then this post is for you.

When you exit Darkmaul Citadel do not complete the quest or leave the Island. Just open the Dungeon Finder and queue again. You can keep doing this until you get all the items you want.

Edit: According to Sarm (below) they seem to be WoD models, so you should be able to get them in WoD if you want after the fact. That said there are still two trinkets and a ring from the last boss, and they are blue items. It’s probably not worth most people’s time to do it multiple times but if you care about that you can do it multiple times. (I did just to have two trinkets and a ring, since those aren’t very common at low levels)

Alt-life, makes this point moot. Want to run it again, alt it!

What is exiles reach? And where is it?

Exiles Reach is the new starter zone. It comes with it’s own mini-dungeon (two bosses, NPC assisted) at the end. There’s some loot that might have unique appearances, I’m not sure, so it might be worth running a few times.

You can also buy the items from vendors in Stormwind/Orgrimmar.

They are located in the class trainer halls, which guards should be able to guide you to if you ask where the class trainers are.

Tunks items do not share an appearance with the Expeditionary items. The vendors do not sell the blue-quality items and their appearances as far as I can tell.

Ah okay, I assumed it was the same items as the ones from the vendor since I never saw any blue items on any of my runthroughs.

Yeah they’re boss drops from Tunk specifically. The last boss, on the other hand, only drops two trinkets and a ring, so there’s no transmog from him (but maybe you’d just want to be level 10 with trinkets and a ring that aren’t heirlooms, who knows).

I just thought people might like to know they can run it again to try and get different loot.

No that’s good advice for sure. People naturally thought they’d have to make new characters and run through the whole zone again.

I’ll probably be doing this to try to get the blue appearances then.

Looking at Wowhead, all of the drops seem to be reused models from WoD. I don’t think any of them are even unique colors. It’d probably be less frustrating just to run an alt through there once and pick up stuff while you level, for anyone who skipped that expansion.

I wasn’t sure whether they were unique or not, so I erred on the side of ultimately saying “you can run it again in case.” Good to know that they don’t seem to be unique, though!

Of course I’m a weird kind of person anyway. I ran it until I had both trinkets, the ring, and at least once serviceable weapon. I just like that complete feeling when setting out, so hopefully anyone else who likes that will be able to see this and choose whether or not to run it a few times.

Thank you!

Oh ok, thanks. I kinda avoided all the info about SL because I like to be surprised. Did Wrath beta and ended up hating Borean Tundra because of it.

It’s actually available now, in the pre-patch! All you need to do is start a new character to access it. It’s not really Shadowlands related as such. It doesn’t touch on that stuff.

It’s actually designed to lead into mostly any content, so that going forward it would make sense going into any expansion.

That is an excellent pointer. Thank you very much.
