We all know that you need a lot of wyrm crests. You can never get enough of them. However, I think ppl forget that once you upgrade every slot on your main to 437, wyrm crests are no longer required for your whole account. Alt gearing is going to be a breeze this season.
Note: Disregard. I think it’s justa reduction in flightstones for alts.
Huh? why would i no longer need Wyrm crest for alts?

Once you upgrade a slot all you need are flightstones for that same slot if you change pieces of gear.
can you give me an example of this? im not fully understanding
You again reach a point where you’re constantly out of flightstones. It’s still the same grind, just without needing a crest.
Actually, I might be misremembering. It might just be a reduction in flightstones for alts.
I mean honestly, either way? Its not like its that big of a deal. You can slam out +11 in like…18, 20 min? Thats 12 Wyrm Crests, and at minimum 50 flight stones.

pretend you get a helmet, it has +mastery and +haste on it, your class prefers +vers and +crit BUT that helm was a huge upgrade for you ilvl wise so you equip it and upgrade it anyways.
Now a few weeks later you have it upgraded fully, and get that sweet BiS drop with your +vers and +crit.
You don’t spend crests on upgrading it because you already upgraded that slot to the max once already. You can then just spend flightstones and upgrade it to the same level that your old helm was at before you swapped it out.

It’s still really nice that when I get hero gloves, I’ll only need some flightstones and 1 aspect crest to upgrade them to 441.
Does this expand across all toons?
So if character A upgrades a champ helm to max character B does not need to spend crests to upgrade a champ helm to max?
Nope. It only reduces flightstone count for character B, B will still need crests. If character A gets another helm with more desirable secondary stats, it would only cost flightstones to upgrade it to his max champ lvl.
It does not. Each alt will need the Crests to upgrade their gear, even though they get a Flightstone discount. Getting a 447 helm your main does not prevent your alt from needing Crests to upgrade a helm from 424 to 437.
For a moment I bet you REALLY liked this new system for alts
It’s still really good for alts. Discounted flightstones is pretty nice!
TBH i dont really care i only do anything of meaning on my warrior sooooo, wont effect me. but was just interested in understanding it.
The main thing that makes crests “easier” for alts is if you get a late start on that alt, the season cap of crests is going to be through the roof. So you can theoretically spam M+ to your heart’s content to get them caught up, if you wanted.
Is it? It feels the same to me. Previous seasons I could grind out valor on my alts and upgrade their gear from M1 to Mwhatever.
Now it’s just like going to a department store where they markup the price 50%, then declare they’re having a 50% off sale. Now instead of grinding out valor on my alt, I’m grinding crests. Also, now I can’t even upgrade my gear all the way to max, but have to get an entirely new set starting at M9.
I ain’t falling for these extra complications masquerading as sales. This isn’t on sale. It’s intentionally crippled, markedup price, then discounted by the same amount.

This is the fastest gearing system I can ever remember us having in WoW. I can’t imagine complaining about 50% flightstone discounts as being “intentionally crippled” given this pace of gearing.
