PSA : Undulating Sporecloak is utter trash

Undulating Sporecloak is by far the worst embellishment item in the game.

I advise you not to make one.

For mail users I recommend the two piece set for gloves/wrist or the venom steeped stompers.

For plate users I recommend the pants or was it boots that give stacks of haste (huge amount of haste up to 10 stacks of it)

Anyways… the sporecloak is a huge waste of effort I highly recommend you make anything else with your sparks.

The cloak has a very low chance of actually saving you from dying because it procs only once every two minutes for a 250K shield but only when your HP is already dropped to 30%. Odds are you’ll get healed anyways and the shield won’t do much at all. For the 5-8% of the times that it actually saves someone it’s just not worth it when you can get huge secondary stat boosts that will always help out (venom steeped stompers for a quick example, elemental lariat for another)

(From the PoV of a healer)

Anyways, thanks for reading. Good day!

Mine is usually healing as much as my trinkets in most runs on my warrior. Seems impactful enough to me.

I wasn’t expecting lariat 2.0 when I made it.

Healing as much as trinkets doesn’t mean it’s helping. A shield that isn’t needed isn’t needed even if it gets used up.

yeah it kinda comes off as a cheat death almost…but not exactly how it works. a lesser experienced player will want to know exactly how this proc will feel in combat before crafting.

I like the cloak. It’s not something you really want to be relying on or seeing occur often (as it would imply other party-related issues at this level)…but i imagine this cloak will scale very well with avoidance when people start pushing higher keys. Some of those AOE pulses can get really nasty, so a shield will def help - especially for a class like resto druid, who will almost always be running some version of frenzied regen.

i’ll know if it’s worth in a couple months i guess :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated:

as a healer, this cloak is there to save my rear

it’s not a dps/throughput item so no, most dps won’t want it.

I think the cloak is more an M+ item than a raiding one where its prolly unnoticeable.

I def can see it being good in high M+ though and i plan to make it 3rd.

Dead DPS do zero damage.

Raids are easy, you don’t gear for raids you gear for M+. If you need this embellishment to live certain mechanics in higher Tyr keys then it is BIS.

No can do, as the only tier slot I won’t be having tier on for my Evoker is the chest not the hands. I will be using the new Adaptive Dracothyst Armguards when I finally get an Enchanted Aspect’s Shadowflame Crest.

Also no can do, as I eventually plan on running two Shadowflame-Tempered Armor Patches for this Warrior.

This is what i like about M+, its a lot like PvP where gearing and building for survivability isn’t necessarily seen as a waste because of all the variables going off.

While in raiding its just a dance once you have it down all you need to do is aim for troughput.

I’d say it’s decent on healers and MAYBE tanks, but I wouldn’t craft it on a DPS. (PvE perspective)

I would absolutely NOT craft it on a tank. Tanks have tools to live mechanics and the absorb is such a small amount of health compared to the tools tanks have to live mechanics. The whole point of this is that DPS, and possibly healers, lack the means to survive certain threats and something like this can keep them alive. Hunters for instance have horrible survivability and this could keep them up.

OPs take isn’t great. This is definitely on my craft list.

All the caster DPS embellishments are less than 2% DPS gain, with most tuned around 1%. I’m running warlock and probably mage this season for our M+ push group, and even with the defensiveness of those classes a 1% DPS loss to give my healer a little more room for error will probably mean the difference between bricking a key and timing it on at least a few occasions.

The probability that a 1% DPS gain from Amice or potion inhibitors or damage proc weapons will make that kind of difference is pretty low.

For M+ DPS, this cloak is up there with engineering bracers or flavor pockets. Non-Ret DPS would be crazy not to use this.

I’m definitely looking to craft it on my priest and hunter–both of which tend to be squishy. I’m stingy though, so I’m holding off until my priest can nab the recipe.

The point of it is to be like a cheat death and help save you. Still testing my cloak but couple things. Both the heal over time and absorb scale with Versa. So if it’s high item level and you stacking Versa to survive it’s a decent absorb over 300k.

I look at it as something to save me while other CDs are coming up like Death pact, Unending, etc. Sometimes though just a nice absorb if you take damage you weren’t expecting and you can recover to press your buttons.

Also if you have 700k HP or more it’s proccing at 210k HP as HP goes up it’s just a nice save for healers and you to react.

i love my cloak. not as a cheat death but it definitely borrows some time and takes a bit of healing pressure off.

I disagree, a lot of the people I know pushing IO running high keys swear by it and have since switched to using it over the boots.

Wow playerbase, ladies and gentlemen.

That’s pretty often, considering the cadence of combat in WoW.

Also, the fact that it procs automatically makes it more convenient than the Choker of Shielding.

That’s huge.

That’s exactly when you need a shield!

It’s actually pretty decent for Enhancement Shamans because of our Nature’s Guardian (which is basically a Shaman-flavored Cheat Death)

So not only does Nature’s Guardian heal us to 20%, but the cloak is a shield so our self-healing can kick off and keep us alive; we Enhancement Shamans are a bit squishy, so anything that can work off of my procced healing spells and/or Gift of the Naaru will keep us in the fight for that much longer.

The Undulating Sporecloak is absolutely S tier. Everyone, and I do mean everyone should be running with this cloak if you’re looking to do M+ or Raiding (most definitely for pugging). This thing has saved my tail countless times already and my healers love me for having it on. I’d suggest making one and putting it on ASAP!
