Hey I normally am ranting or raving about this, that, or the other; but today I wanted to try and be helpful.
So I started doing the farm for the Ratstallion Mount in Legion Dalaran yesterday, and I have went from around 1500 sightless eyes to 15k in around 4 hours total time farming. In fact, (I’m posting this during server maint for future readers), when the servers come back up, I’ll be finishing it in around an hour or less. So here are some tips that I picked up so far, and I hope this helps any of you who don’t have the Ratstallion yet, but want it;
(1) Group up if possible. - Randomly invite other players farming also. Having more people killing the mobs, even those who only drop a few eyes like the Bats and Crocs, add up. Not to mention, that a group is a deterrent to jerks who turn on the PV mode just to try and get free HK’s. Also, the more people that are in the area farming, the faster the rares and events spawn.
(2)The Wild Mana Wands are a must! You have to spend the eyes you have anyway since the cap is at 5k, and the achievement is for the amount of eyes you have picked up, not the ones you have on you. The Wands when used on a rare that has 90% health or above, makes the mobs bigger and stronger, but they drop a lot more eyes.
(3) Summon everything! The Crocs, Bats, Imps, Rogues, everything. Yes, they all drop small amounts of eyes, but farming these lower drop mobs between events makes time go by faster, and again, they all add up. The portal keys are neat, but not really all that helpful.
(4)Turning off the Guards gives less eyes than farming the rares and summoned mobs. It’s True. if you loot all of the spawned chests that pop when the guards are off, you’re getting 250 eyes at best, and you have a 5 minute wait to turn the Guards back on. Honestly, when you use the wands I mentioned above, your get close to, or more eyes than the spawned chests, and when combined to the summoned mobs, it really isn’t worth it to turn off the guards for the chests.
(5) Fishing is slower, but the pools are insta spawned. Fishing is not a bad way to pass time between the rares if you don’t want to do the summons. Plus you get a blue item from the pools that teleport you to a pond outside of Dalaran where you can fish up these items that can eventually get you a pretty sweet Fish mount. Personally, Ill be doing that after Ratstallion.
(7)Segacid the Shark rare is a reference to a game from the Sega CD Console from the 90’s called Sewer Shark. The Shark is in a sewer, so Sewer Shark, and it was played on the Sega CD. - Ok not helpful, but a fun bit of trivia for those of you who weren’t around in those days.
That’s about it. if done correctly and hopefully with a group for a good portion of it, you can go from almost no eyes to 20k in less than 8 hours total of farming. Good luck, and go get Ratstallion!
