Due to a seemingly recent bug in the system Blizzard is using for instant PayPal payments (PayPal automatic payments), if you have multiple credit cards attached to your paypal account, it will occasionally ignore your preferred card and pick…whatever one it feels like.
You can go into your PayPal account, manage automatic payments (easy to get there by just clicking a Blizzard subscription payment) and see their “Payment method” section.
It says:
We’ll use your balance first. Then we’ll use:
[your usual card that you set up Blizzard payments with here]
Normally this is fine and all, but unfortunately PayPal is now IGNORING this setting and using a random card linked to your account. I don’t know how they broke this and they won’t acknowledge that they broke it either.
I purchased a character race change yesterday and it went straight to my company’s credit card. PayPal will not refund it, nor will Blizzard, which is a hassle for sure. Fortunately my company laughed it off and I essentially got the race change as a work bonus.
What this means is…
Option 1:
Stop using PayPal with Blizzard.
Option 2:
Make a separate PayPal account for each credit card you wish to use online.
What I really want from this thread though is a boxing match between PayPal’s Dan Schulman and Bobby Kotick. We can set it up as an undercard match before Musk & Zuckerberg.
