The number of people on the forums who think balance druid talents (and moonkin form) are going to solve balance druid DPS issues (and think it’s going to make up for other nerfs they want us to receive) is truly wild. Moonkin Form gives 3% crit to each player in your group, which is like, fine. But it doesn’t provide a bonus to balance druid spells like Shadowform. Moonkin Form is not Shadowform.
Additionally Moonfury doesn’t scale with spellpower and won’t fix balance druid scaling problems. It literally only increases base damage. The talent has been in the game since patch 1.8 and has been the same since then. How do people not know this? How can anyone think this bad talent is suddenly the answer when it’s been in the game for ages and balance druids have been the worst DPS spec in the game the whole time?
Balance druid in phase 2 is currently simming at the absolute bottom, just like era. Shadow priests are simming at around 500-550 and malding about it. Balance Druids are simming at 440-450. The degree to which people don’t understand how bad balance druids are is wild. The bases are 30% lower than mages. The talent support is awful. We could have infinite mana and still be the worst DPS spec in the game.
Moonkin Form won’t fix it. Thanks for reading my salty rant luv u guyzzzzz
The people saying Moonkin form will solve their dps issue are the same morons who said free wrath was going to solve their dps issue. They are clueless and have zero understanding on how the game works
Though in Classic historical Balance has done better than Shadow Priests so I feel like comparing them isn’t doing much for you.
However, Balance has a lot less runes due to Druid runes catering for 4 specs. It would be nice if Blizzard incorporated like a weapon rune slot that is basically a “fix this spec rune” for struggling meme/pvp specs to make them viable in PvE and then let them enjoy cool new abilities instead of losing rune slots just trying to make them viable.
Of course Blizzard could just change the base game to make Balance a bit better, like change the Moonfury talent or make Wrath/Starfire scale better.
Balance druid wasn’t changed meaningfully in the way of wrath/starfire damage going to amp harder than it already did. That change comes with the gear you’ll be getting from gnomer/STV event.
What does change though is having things like Eclipse & starsurge. Starsurge ramping off your talents that amp starfire/wrath is pretty huge for its incredibly low mana cost. And eclipse will allow bigger burst windows when played properly. There may be other runes that do this too, e.g. that hurricane rune that I saw (if it goes through) will be a game changer for boomy in AOE.
Things don’t get changed by the talents that weren’t altered, they’re changed by the new gear and stats you’ll be acquiring now, along with changes to the class itself.
Idk how you can sim anything when you don’t have access to any of it lmao. Like for all you know p2 is going to drop with patch notes saying “Wrath was buffed by 200%”. lol.
so tired of this trope that anyone who disagrees with someone else is just completely clueless and doesn’t have any idea how the game works and / or is a complete moron.
can’t people just be measuring ‘usefulness’ on a different scale than you? This attitude is all over the druid discord, as well, for example, and it is very tiresome.
Can’t wait to barely do more DPS than Warriors did in phase 1
It’s already hard for balance to PUG a BFD group btw. I had to miss my guild run Monday so did a pug on Tuesday and it took me like 2 hours of whispering someone to get anyone to bring me with them. I have great gear and a few 99 parses, I’m a competent player. I got many whispers asking me to come heal though, and many whispers asking if I’d spec feral for the run, lol.
There are other ways to be useful than DPS. But balance druids aren’t even that. It’s just a non-competitive spec. It’s not unusable or anything, but is that really the bar?
