LOL good luck in players understanding that. I used to say the same thing about warlocks and if the group pulls in ways that mobs die very fast the warlocks dps will look like garbage. I still see it now tanks dragging mobs away from the dps makes their damage look great but the dps having to constantly chase mobs down the road not so much. MDI players know how to work together more.
Why is this even still a topic around here? Literally no one I’ve ever known who runs progression content since Challenge Modes existed has ever whined or complained about healers and DPS.
No, see, that’s actually perfectly fine and understandable. Nobody’s telling you to not heal when they’re telling you to focus on DPS; if people are taking avoidable damage, you SHOULD be healing them, but they shouldn’t be taking avoidable damage.
There are some absolute clowns on these forums who are like “I WILL LITERALLY NEVER PRESS DPS BUTTONS” and some idiot even tried justifying it by saying “I’m not doing nothing; I’m staring at the full healthbars” and I think that’s what’s making folks in favor of healers doing damage when they can upset.
Evans Chebet won the Boston marathon with 2h6m51s.
Why can’t you jog around the block?
Sounds dumb, doesn’t it?
Healers in regular game really shouldn’t have to DPS. Maybe in mythic, but unless you’re on a team trying for MDI, shut it.
Just don’t have downtime.
If there isn’t healing needed, hit DPS buttons.
If there IS healing needed, cool, heal.
I only care when there’s no healing needed and the healer is just sitting there doing absolutely nothing (or worse - blasting heals into full or basically full health targets).
It’s an issue, you can pretend it isn’t. But watching people pushing +30 keys say “mistweaver doesn’t bring enough dps,” obviously means they care.
And I’m not picking on monks just saying Holy paladin was brought to almost every top key in season 1 and it wasnt because of their healing output.
Obviously you’re healing that, and I guess if you’re tank isn’t a giga-chad DK you may have to help him on big pulls. But there have literally been runs where I can’t use more than one global to dps or someone’s dying because they love eating cleaves and ground fire.
I’m pretty sure its because blizzard hasn’t given them anything else better to complain about lately. Really we can blame blizzard for not being jerks and ruining wow. Now people have to fall back on other things to whine about.
Last month it was the “rampant” leavers that were attacking mythic+ like a plague, this month it is toxic players screaming at healers to do more DPS. I have literally never even seen this happen lol
Just to uh like, weigh in, i’ve tanked / healed around 50 dungeons of all sorts the last couple weeks. Doing 2-10 keys on my alliance brewmaster and some lower ones as mistweaver, leveling a prot paladin alliance in bfa, leveling a resto druid alliance in bfa, and leveling a horde blood dk in shadowlands dgs, and seriously, not a SINGLE. FREAKING. TIME. has healer dps come up at all. I don’t even think of all the dgs i’ve ran there was a single healer that didn’t contribute at least some dps. Granted i didn’t check meters for all of them but every one i can remember checking had at least some healer dps.
It’s been the same for me. Like, I’ll happily discuss the theoretical merits of healer damage and why it’s a good use of their downtime… but is this a real problem? I’ve only seen it be a problem on the forums and even then only within the last couple weeks.
No one is asking you to be pushing top DPS, what they are saying is if you aren’t healing then lend a hand. I did a mythic+ last week where the healer joked about how bored he was and that he was playing Minecraft on a second monitor.
