PSA: If you play on an RP server

The only thing that would have made this thread better was if we were all actually roleplaying in our posts. But Wrenias ruined any chance of that by ordering us to report other players, like he’s the chief of the naming-convention police.__

I don’t. Doesn’t mean I can’t comment on how stupid the rules are considering the names of the characters in the game itself break those very rules.

I actually love roleplaying, and roleplay frequently, even in-game.

I don’t play on RP realms because of gatekeepers like yourself. You make those realms intolerable.

Following Blizzard’s guidelines is ‘gatekeeping’??

Lol misunderstood. Bloodsail Buccaneers.

its like just play on a normal server y’know if you don’t want to pvp or rp. but some people just be dumb af

No, buddy, the gatekeeping is gatekeeping. Thinking you have any authority to determine who is allowed to play on RP realms, and your hyper-vigilance, attacking people you don’t think are worthy of it.

I’ve played on RP realms before, and I know your type. You’re more interested in policing the RP of others than actually RPing yourself.

You’re making a lot of assumption about me when all I want is for people to use lore-appropriate names on an RP server. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Fine, but I’m telling you the rules for RP names are stupid because the names of in-game characters violate those very rules, and the rules don’t really make sense.

For example, Technotron could very easily be the roleplay of someone who is actually a gnomish construct meant to infiltrate society.

Fortyseven could be the agent number of someone working for SI:7, who grew up without a name.

Their examples aren’t necessarily lore-inappropriate.

Then you need to take up your issue with Blizzard, not me. I am not the one who set these rules in place. I am just trying to help enforce them.

Have a nice day!

As I said…

I would have loved if my guild chose the RPPVP server. I don’t RP but I don’t mess with RPers either. It adds a nice element to the game, and sometimes its nice to set back at a distance and just watch.

I’m sure my name would have been reported but I feel like its appropriate for an orc rogue

What you’re saying makes no sense. I didn’t make up these rules. I could ignore them, yes. But I choose not to, because I am not a rulebreaker, nor would I want to enable anyone else to break the rules. Why are you shaming me for that?

do you play traffic cop too? you’re the kinda person who does

Because you seem far more interested in taking people out of RP realms, or at least taking away their names, than encouraging them to RP with a name that isn’t necessarily lore-inappropriate.

If you’re reporting names like Technotron and Fortyseven, I don’t think you actually care about RPing or other people RPing, you just care about having power. It’s really annoying, and that sort of gatekeeping is what makes it difficult for would-be RPers to get into the scene.

Speaking from experience, your kind make RP realms not worth playing on, even though people like myself might love RPing.

I’m hard reporting every layering exploiter I see.

Most of the people with these types of names never intended to RP in the first place.

And if they do, getting their name changed isn’t going to deter them.

The guidelines are there plain as day. It’s not my problem if people don’t follow them.

So you don’t like RPing with people who follow the ToS? Fascinating.

No, but if I see a crime being committed, I will report it to the police. Which is a better analogy for what is happening here then your scenario.
