I don’t know how other party leaders do it but as a tank when I formed my own WC group last night I recieved a torrent of whispers for invites. They flooded my screen so fast I couldnt comb through them all.
I just wanted you to know it will better help your chances (at least with me) when you whisper the leader to say more than just “inv plz”. I typically do first come first serve for invites when Im whispered but if you send me an “Inv” message and below you is a “21 Mage” and “20 Rogue” Im going to pick the people who provided me with information. My screen is covered in messages and Im not going to write everyone back and ask for your information and Im not trying to rude and not message anyone back that I’m full. I just cant get to them all. So it is faster and more beneficial to me if you just provide your information in the first whisper and that will increase your likelyhood for an inv.
I may be in the minority here but I also dont invite based on highest level. If its WC, I’m not skipping over the first guys to apply for the level 26s that applied after you, Im sure some people do. I enjoy the challenge and enjoy helping out people trying to get their first clear. I dont want super fast no challenge speed runs. Im not becoming a better player by getting carried.
I just wanted some of you that may have never formed your own groups to know what its like from my perspective and what you can do to help me make sure you get your spot. Probably common sense stuff for most people here but I got at least 15 messages in my list just saying “Inv” and when I ask for a healer and 3 dps i dont know who “Inv” is and what role they can fill in the run.
Good Luck to everyone and enjoy the game.

Why would ask someone their class and lvl when you can easily shift click and see, I’ve always done that even if they say their class and lvl

He doesn’t want to shift click lots of names.

he’s right about whispering class and level. “lvl 20 hunter” stands out more than “inv pls”.

I write short stories for group invites. Usually they start with “GRETTINGS CHAMPION”.

I know about shift click and when I did that the information was seperated further down the list from the players whisper and got mixed into thr crowd of messages so i moved on
I normally ask if they want a specific class or spec. Spamming “LF2M DPS” and then either telling you don’t need another Shaman or you are looking for a Mage doesn’t help me.
While I am here… Why in the hell are we still using Trade chat for groups? You have to be in a city for that to even work. Please, PLEASE use the LookingForGroup channel, which is global. This makes it way easier to look for and find groups EVERYWHERE.

Yeah, not shift clicking through 10 whispers and scrolling up and down in my chat log to check each one.

That’s pretty much a guaranteed invite from me if you did that.

Imagine 10 whispers causing you to scroll up and down each time you shift click. The type of person who would just “inv pls” is inferior to the type who would take the extra initiative to give the info outright.

That is a fair point, one i have probably been guilty of before and need to improve on. Thanks for the advice.
LookingForGroup channel is too often used as a global spam channel… At least on Whitemane
Sir, your name does not inspire me. But your story sure does! I would actually consider you after that! : D
What about the people that complain about the most insignificant of minutiae? rofl. god i hate all of you.
Ngl I’m tempted to try something similar once my mage gets to a high enough level to do dungeons. It sounds like fun.
I mean, this isn’t even a complaint thread. It was intended to be helpful. He was legitimately sharing a tip to better the odds of getting into groups led by people who think like he does. If you don’t want the help, move along. It’s not even a complaint. By all means, he could have just kept his mouth shut and only invited the people who were forthright with the most helpful info. Lots of people complain about meaningless stuff, but this isn’t such a case.
