One of my posts was removed a few weeks ago because it was considered “extraneous.” It was my word of the day. It’s particularly annoying when you have a post removed for “trolling” because you may not even remember what you said, nor can you point out to anyone it definitely was not trolling or spam and if a real-life moderator did it, they should perhaps be re-trained or…

This scenario happened to me yesterday in the flying thread. Some anti-flyer said he hasn’t used flying since BfA so I replied, “so you’ve been using ground mounts in BfA content like Arathi and Darkshore?” I assume that embarrassed him and he jumped on several alts to flag the post. It was deleted and I received a message stating it was inappropriate.

Lately it seems a lot of stuff is just arbitrarily enforced, and the stuff that does get moderated doesn’t always make sense, while stuff that should be is left alone

You have to walk on eggshells now-a-days, unfortunately.

I get the whole “grow some thicker skin” retort that people seem to enjoy using. However, it’s not really about “I can’t take it” but filling threads up with those types of non value-added responses just makes people have to dig further to read the topic.

Which yet again opens up pandora’s box. Who defines what has value and what doesn’t? Layering subjective standards doesn’t make them suddenly NOT subjective.

One example on a spectrum of essentially limitless examples proves nothing. Yes, I understand what you are saying. The point is, it still has to contend with the asinine contention of perception.

Value is in the eye of the beholder, an inherently subjective standard. So long as subjectivity is the measuring stick, the system is flawed.

Not my problem either way. I think the concept is fairly universally known, though. What measures needing to be taken is where the subjectivity comes in. I think the person I replied directly to would agree with my take on it.

You’re still missing the point. Its a subjective standard and that is the issue. He isn’t trying to tell you what constitutes trolling and what doesn’t, just pointing out where it falls in the flagging system.

People jump avatars to flag, which is why I wish we just had one avatar for the forums like they do on the Diablo forums.
My alliance alt is the same name as me. When I’m on her I read thread and sometimes like them it might be doubling up but i don’t do it on purpose since I pretty much only use her at work so I can get her to level 3 and switch over to her for the forums.
