PSA: End raid mounts from legacy content can drop more than one per run

It’s a little late for the goblin event, but I found out this week when someone shared a screenshot, you can absolutely get more than 1 raid boss mount per raid run from legacy content.

We (The mount community) already knew that we could get more than one dungeon mount drop at the same time from the same boss, but it was long thought that when they changed raids from current 2 x drops to legacy that it was 1 per.

It’s not, and I don’t think it ever was, but with the low drop rate and the fact I have only ever seen one screenshot since I have been farming mounts from BFA onwards, it’s just seems to be a really low drop chance of happening, but it can happen.

I think most considered possible, just extremely unlikely for more than one to drop during the same run.

… or were the drop rates so low that people actually started assuming that you could only get one per run? That’d just be superstition, mostly because the chances of two 1% drops (some actually being less than that) in a single run is 1 in 10,000.

I think it was this. Of all the mount communities I have been a part of for the last 6-8 years I have seen one screenshot showing it to be possible, everyone else in those communities and everywhere else I have seen it raised, no one ever believed we could get 2+ mounts from one end raid boss.

Yeh chances are slim, but it is possible.

For clarity which mount/boss was it?

I’d understood that old LFR mounts (Abyss Worm, Antoran Charhound, G.M.O.D., and Sanctum Gloomcharger) still follow personal loot rules so you could see them more than once while others were capped at one per group.

None of those are end raid bosses. It was Jailer that dropped 2 mounts in a single kill recently.

Never seen that. Have seen repeats from successive runs, which annoys me because now I have dupes sitting unloved in my banks.

Yeh not many would have seen 2 mounts from a single boss, I’ve been at this for years and only now just seen it once.

Thanks. o/

Do you know when the drops occurred? It’s possible that collector’s bounty overrode the normal legacy loot criteria while it was active.

I deleted a duplicate Invincible. It felt blasphemous.

End of last year, nothing to do with the bounty. Plus I am pretty sure the bounty did not change how mounts dropped, just the drop rate.

I always hoped that at some point they would treat mounts like pets and let us put them in cages. Then I could find homes for them.

I got rid of most of my duplicate mounts knowing this was never going to come, I had like 100 of them, only kept a couple of special ones like my four AQ mounts and my spare HH mount, things that were a little bit special to me.

I’ve been telling people that more than one mount can drop when the question pops up but then people push this narrative.

I gave up and ‘stopped’ participating in mount discussions because people would spout some crap without knowing what they are talking about. Last time I argued with someone about mounts was the last love rocket in February, for the upteenth year in a row people argued “You can’t get any mounts from your second+ kill of the day” and referred back to an official holiday queue post from Blizzard from years ago.

And for the upteenth year I would remind them that I got every single mount and manuscript from the second+ kill of the day until last February when they added the new broom and it all boiled over in the mount communities.

People yet again did not want to believe me about the love rocket and I basically started yelling at people about how dumb they are (on Discord, not here) until Blizzard made an official blue post pointing out that from February onwards that only new stuff added since February could be obtained on the first kill, everything else can be obtained still from the second kill.

After people changed their tact I called them out for blindly following Blizzard without taking into account real user examples and proof prior to this and just basically stopped caring what other people think.

I know how it works, I know what I need to do to be dodgy to get things done for myself, I have over 1,100 mounts because I know how to game the system, I don’t care anymore if people believe me or not.

Thanks for the heads up! If there’s documented evidence of it occurring, that sounds pretty definitive to me. So there shouldn’t actually be any harm in mount running as a group, since everyone should still have the same odds of getting it.
