So as most of you probably know, the scaling is pretty wonky in some areas of the game. However, there is nothing worse than Icecrown.
There are so many elite quests, and most of the elites are far too difficult to solo, even if you’re a tank spec. Overthane Balargarde in particular is the worst offender, as he has as much if not more hp than dungeon bosses and hits like a freight train. Pretty much the whole section of the zone dealing with Corp’rethar is dealing with elites, and the only way I was able to complete it was by turning off Chromie Time and killing everything with the legacy buff.
This would be fine if they weren’t mandatory to complete the zone. Other zones have quests like this but they were all optional, like Amphitheater in Zul’drak or the arena in Grizzly Hills for Horde.
Just avoid this headache unless you don’t care about getting the zone achievement.
I don’t remember which section you mention here based on name, but I do remember going through Icecrown on a new baby priest I made. I did everything in the bottom right, including setting up the questline for Crusader Bridenbrad. And then I did the stuff around the Shadowvault or whatever the name is. I didn’t have much of a problem.
That isn’t scaling being wonky, that’s somebody having the bright idea to lock premade group to level 50, while at the same time having half the zones /1 not work.
Icecrown, just like shadowmoon valley, should be packed with elites, elite quests, as it’s a late tier zone.
To be fair many people did that for icecrown, and even dragonblight to a lesser extent. So really it isn’t that far fetched to group for an entire zone.
But yeah, the premade group being locked is absolutely disgusting when it comes to these zones.
Some of these were a huge pain back when WotLK was current.
Phasing in that area meant everyone had to be doing the same quests at the same time to help each other.
I guess party sync might help, but it almost feels like an oversight for those quests to still be filled with those uber elites.
