PSA - Don't level a hunter in SOD if you want to keep your account

Just a PSA for all you altoholics out there. Leveling a hunter in SOD is a massive risk to your entire account. People will automatically report you for botting just based on the class you play. Like me you will likely get banned for cheating and have your account closed by the time you hit level 60. This wasn’t an issue a few years ago as Blizzard CS would see the mistake of banning you wrongfully due to mass reports and fix it. They no longer have CS so you’ll be stuck without an account even if you never used any bots or cheats on it. You will risk losing thousands of hours. Don’t make a hunter in SOD.

-Posting this from another account on the same email as the banned account. My main account with the hunter has a full bis parsing rank 10 rogue as well. Once my sub runs out I’ll be refunding the last 12 months of transactions to Blizzard so it’s not a total loss.

Time to make some

I have (4) Hunters in SoD on (2) accounts. How is it that I am not permabanned?

As long as your name isn’t gibberish and you aren’t using the default pet names (usually in Chinese characters) you’re probably pretty safe.

What was your pet named? I’m far from someone to blame OP like 99.9% of forum users usually do, but I’ve never heard of a false positive like this before.

Well apparently I’ve been unbanned after my second appeal. I guess I have gained a bit of faith in Blizzard. Good luck out there guys.

Also Replying above, my pets name was Cat. I left it as Cat since it was Broken Tooth. I planned on naming him based on future experiences with a raiding guild, wanted his name to be meaningful so I left it default.

I can actually confirm this, I was leveling my hunter at the beginning of this phase and I noticed a LOT of people would just stop and target me randomly. I even had some shamans try to buff me with alpha, which for those who don’t know increases your threat generation which makes having the pet tank for you pretty difficult. Of course I could just right click the buff off but it kind of stung a bit being treated like a bot just because I was playing a hunter.

can’t say I have noticed this before, but I will see about watching for it now… as for folks not liking how I play my toons, I could care less… when they pay my bills and for all of my gaming, then they can comment, but that’s it… if they don’t like it, they can kiss my ***

reported for botting.

pet names for me have to mean something just as much as my toon names…

I buff random peeps with alpha So that i can do 5 percent more dmg. Dont matter the class

I’ve seen so many dwarf hunters in loch modan with pet named “Boar” or whatever the Chinese variant for default pet name is… and their character name is something like Grwqplk… or some other random nonsense.

Pretty sure that wouldn’t be the OP tho - he said he had a cat :slightly_smiling_face:

make sure u strafe back and forth a lot :joy:

Dont bot next time ok yeah?

Why would you give food a name?

Umm. Because you can name your boar “Dinner” or “Ham” or “Porkchops” and it’s funny and also screams “not a bot”.
