PSA [Alliance] Getting a Garrison QUICK

Want a WoD garrison on your Dragonflight character but not sure how to get one? Then this guide is for you. It will take about 5-10 minutes for a level 70 character. It requires flying.

From the Stormwind Mage Tower, take the portal to Ashran in Draenor. Then, fly southwest until you get to Prophet Velen in Shadowmoon Valley. The quest “Finding a Foothold” is immediately available:

It might be useful to track trivial quests (icon by your minimap) so you can see the quests being offered more easily.

Then do the quests:

  1. For the Alliance!
  2. Looking for Lumber
  3. Ravenous Ravens
  4. Quakefist (given from Yrel standing nearby)
  5. Establish Your Garrison (given from Baros again)

Voila! You have your garrison on that character and a free extra hearthstone to Draenor.

Note: There is a horde equivalent but your garrison is in Frostfire Ridge.

Note 2: If you are leveling, you should do the WoD intro because it is the most efficient questline for xp in the game. But if you want to skip it, accept the Iron Horde campaign from Chromie, go to the dark portal, get up to talking to Khadgar and DO NOT press “for Azeroth!” telling him you want to go through the portal. Abandon that quest and then go through the dark portal yourself. You will be at the place you need to be for your garrison.

10.1 Update: no portal in Valdrakken but you can still go to Shadowmoon valley via ashran portal → flying there

Any suggestions on leveling the garrison up?

Do I need a garrison for any of the Winter Veil cheesements?

The best I can say is to go gather all of the treasures around Draenor and kill the rares. If you want to maximize how many resources you get, then you’ll want to open up the lumber mill shredder in Gorgrond to get all of those treasures, too.
