PS5 is 800 dollars

What are everyone’s opinions on this? Is it worth it to get one?

I want to play some ps5 games but im not sure I want to pay out that much money

Does ps have any ps exclusive games though? I can’t think of any title of the top of my head that isn’t available on pc

I mean if you like ps5 sure, i bought a series x because i prefer console for fps games and i have more friends on xbox than i do pc

It’s getting harder to recommend consoles with each passing generation. I personally got one for games that were once exclusive, JRPGs, and anime fighters but most of the exclusives I own made their way to Steam over the months, while I’m starting to buy the Switch versions of those JRPGs since Sony and Nintendo swapped stances for censorship.

Xbox is in that same boat since the Game Pass allows playing their games on both the console and PC.

Get a PS5 to play with your friends and for games that run better on a console than a PC.

That’s the scalpers price.

They are around 500 but issue comes in scalpers are buying them like crazy and inflating the price to 800 to 1000 dollars.

And walmart is real bad about this same with amazon. Basically walmart and amazon can allow small businesses sell on their website or smaller stores. They buy em all up from a place like bestbuy or another retailer (note on the link everything is sold out) by potentially using software to instant order the products. Once they do, they order it and it’s shipped to them.

They then relist it on walmart or amazon for that 800 to 1k price tag.

My ps4 has terrible frame rates on some games

if 800 bucks is giving you pause then don’t buy it. food & shelter first

I picked one up but considering how much I use it vs PC, I prob should’ve skipped it.

I’m not that impressed by it and it’s getting updates that is improving it slowly but IMO it should’ve had such features on release.

The MSRP of $500 is actually a pretty decent for the hardware you’re getting. It’s on par with a PC equipped with a Ryzen 3700X, Radeon 5700XT, 16GB of RAM, and a good PCI-E 4.0 SSD, which is much nicer than you’d be getting buying or building a PC for that price. If it runs the games you enjoy and you can get one for MSRP I think it’s a good deal.

This generation should age a bit more gracefully than the previous gen too, because it started at a much better level of performance relative to PCs compared to last gen, plus devs have yet to leverage the hardware on them fully because they’ve been keeping compatibility with the previous generation. Once the PS4 and Xbone are out of the picture PS5/XBSX games will start looking a lot more nice.

If you’re not looking for right now, you can still sign up with PS, they do regular drops. And they’ll email out guaranteed spots for them, that’s how I got mine. From what I understand after the people who got emailed have a chance they open it up to everyone. So that’s an option if you’re looking more to pay MSRP than get it right away.

There’s discords and stuff you can sit in that’ll announce when things get restocked, but you have seconds to buy the things at times. I used it to get my GPU.

I look at it like this. I shell out a lot more than that for a decent PC. That said, it is a lot up front. It will prolly take me a while to save for it, so I’m just buying the games and waiting til I have enough for the system. I would say it’s worth it if there are games you wanna play, but ultimately the only person who can decide if something has value for the money your spending is you.

I will say that the nice thing about computers though, even though they’re generally more expensive, is that you can buy the parts a little at a time. But a CPU this month, a power supply next month, motherboard the next month, etc. It helps spread out the cost. With the PS5 you are, unfortunately, forced to hand that over all at once. :frowning:

i will pass on ps5 , if sony is clever will put ps5 games down the road on the streaming plataform.

Sign up for playstation direct through the PSN website. Check your email every once in a while. They’ll send you an invite to purchase a PS5 directly from Sony. I got the digital version, an extra controller and a charging dock for the controls for $535.

Don’t pay scalpers.

I got lucky and managed to score a PS5 non-digital only version for retail price. Took over a year of effort but it paid off. I’m loving it so far! Just recently finished Ghosts of Tsushima, The Director’s Cut on it, and it was amazing!

Worthless.

Being real though, you can get a RTX 3070 on sale or an RTX 3060 near at that price that will knock the socks off of the PS5, and have way more benefits then locked hardware ever could.

Or PS4 even.

Heck, that PS4 emulator is coming along nicely.

Tbh, outside of Spiderman maybe, there’s really not a ton of reason to get a playstation considering some of their exclusives are coming over to the PC as well Xbox. Heck, even Godfall, a PS5 exclusive for it’s time, is on PC and Xbox now.
