Having a problem in TBC related to mobs that I haven’t pulled/engaged with causing me to stay in combat. My character could be 30yards away, someone attacks a mob, and I’m stuck in combat until that mob that didn’t path into me but, is 30yards away dies.
What’s the deal with this huge aggro radius for allied mobs that are well outside their range range of aggroing to me when someone else is in combat with them?
agro range and leash range are two diffrent things.
You don’t drop combat with a mob untill they have reached there leash range and reset. IF someone is in combat with them they wont reset. outside of that you will not be removed from the agro table till you are outside that leash range from the other person + a hit this is quite a long way and vastly further than 30 yards, norm closer to 120-150 yards if not more.
IF you don’t want to get in combat with a mob don’t get on there agro table this means don’t interact with either side in any way when theere in combat. This goes as far as hitting them with a aoe or buffing the friendly side even without meaning to, being partied with one side thou is interacting also, assuming within a set range.
I’ve noticed some weird aggro stuff too, especially with shaman totems. I can faerie fire pull a pack of 3, the other 2 target me for about 2 seconds, them immediately go after windfury totem, even though it’s done nothing aggressive yet. This happens EVERY pull.
Nothing to do with attempting to retreat or anything related to that. This is me engaging an enemy and another player attacking a mob 30yards away. I’ll finish killing my mob, their mob isn’t dead, and I won’t leave combat until their mob is dead. Their mob never ran through me, their mob nor my mob called for aid, my mob never even moved from it’s position nor did their mob, and I wasn’t buffed nor did I buff the person attacking. Mind you the mobs are 62-63 and I’m currently 66. I can stand like 15yards away and not be in combat so it’s also not due to being close.
It’s crazy that threat and aggro are the way they are currently. Feels completely broken. Never worked this was in Classic Vanilla when it came to the threat/aggro. Even in stealth I have enemies targeting me when I haven’t touched them just due to being in proximity. I think it’s a bug.
Right now I’m farming Marks from the Cabal in Terrokar and getting in these weird threat problems. Try it out for yourself if you want. But this along with dungeon threat/aggro are all problems currently that never existed in Classic Vanilla.
Noticed this too with passive abilities causing mobs to redirect themselves. I think the entire threat/aggro mechanic is broken.
I get stuck “in combat” about once a week. This has been happening for years. As far as I can remember, it has happened when there are NO nearby players. Maybe there are mobs fighting each other.
If I can get far enough away (250 yards, whatever) I do that. If I can’t, I logout and log back in. Sometimes the game won’t let me log out (because I’m in combat, of course). In that case I kill the game task (alt-F4?) and log back in. That works. Sometimes I’m dead when I log back in, even though I was at full health when I quit out.
This has been going on for years and years. Yes, it is a bug. No, I don’t expect a fix this millenium.
I constantly have mobs that other people are fighting at a long distance away stop attacking that person and run to me. Never touched them or their mob nor got anywhere near them.
