Boy would proximity chat be fun
Assuming you mean voice chat, hard pass.
Just think how fun LFR would be with 40 microphones going off
I don’t think “fun” is the correct word.
Never give random strangers default access to each others’ ears. Goes double for any online game.
(Starts the beat box)
You could yell trade chat spam instead
/heavy breathing ensues. The shotgun blast of an old man sneeze kills 20 murlocs
I have two takes on this. But I will preface by saying I’ve played Planetside 2 well over 2000+ hours, a game which does have proximity chat.
At first, people will use proximity chat for what its meant to be used for. And I do like proximity chat a lot. However, it will, eventually, devolve into people playing El Jarabe TapatĂo 24/7 while blowing out your eardums while spamming King ***ripper soundboards.
It wasn’t in ESO.
Hear nothing but 17 fans all pointed directly at their mic
Someone who coughs more than they breath
Runniest noses known in earth
At least 28 kids screaming at each other the entire time
I’d use a different word that starts with F, followed by terrible.
No thank you. There’s already enough toxic nonsense going on without players shouting slurs into their microphone like you’re playing CS2.
No one uses blizzards terrible voice voice service already… why would this help its a censorious broken tool
You should join us each year on Discord when we do the Running of the Gnomes for Cancer…we have open mic during the whole run…its a damn blast for sure…not just a 20 or so…100’s…
Slurs galore…
Proximity chat works in small-scale teamwork games, where being unable to share information unless people are present enhances the gameplay.
It would not work for wow. Because wow relies on the ability to share information instantly regardless of distance.
And if you’re thinking for the overworld? Nobody’s gonna use that.
Eso has it and it can be a hot mess. Babies crying vaccum cleaners
The fact that SO many people are vehemently opposed to active voice chat with strangers makes me incredibly sad.
Talking to people is what makes online gaming fun.
But people actively avoid it now.
People unplug their mics on Xbox (or sit in private party chats).
People refuse to join Discord (let alone use in-game Voice) in WoW.
Online Gaming is just so QUIET now until you force your way into an existing group.
It’s not necessarily because people don’t want to talk to each other, but rather because in something like a pug where it’s a group of primarily strangers who’re likely never going to see each other again, there’s a very good chance at least one person is going to make everyone else there regret turning voice chat on.
