With the announcement of DI there's been a visible split between people who know that things are only about to get much worse, and people who think these are "sky is falling" attitudes.
Prove them wrong.
In the past month two of my favorite "WoW-ternatives", had sequels announced. Blade & Soul 2, and Aion 2.
Both mobile only.
None of this is coincidental, I think the onus is on you to disprove that we are essentially being left behind in favor of catering to whales and gambling addicts in mobile mediums.
We are no longer the target. We who like epic, PC/CONSOLE based experiences.
It's over man. It's over.
Well, that's not quite how burden of proof works. When you make a substantial claim, burden of proof is on you. That said, I don't think "it's over". I think it was just...really bad planning and management to think that at the first Blizzcon panel, announcing ONLY a mobile game was going to be a good idea that would blow over well. Even if they did nothing but tease d4 like Ninty did with Metroid Prime 4 or Bethesda with ES6, getting a mobile game announcement wouldn't be nearly as bad.
Granted now we know they're WORKING on other diablo titles, but we don't know anything beyond that. They should have given something tangible.

Define substantial claim.
Is it a substantial claim to state something that anyone grounded in reality can see?

Something that goes against what is currently the status quo, in this scenario, claiming that Blizzard's target audience is no longer PC gamers. Saying "anyone grounded in reality can see it" isn't any amount of proof, and when you argue from a position of bias, it makes your point less credible.
Mind you I'm really annoyed we didn't get anything else for Diablo. I've dropped my dislikes on the trailer etc., but unsubstantiated "the sky is falling" claims don't do anyone any good.
The whole “prove me wrong” thing is stupid and childish.
No, I will not. Because you Doom sayers have been saying this for 14 years now. Wow Died in 2005 haven't you heard?
I'll just keep playing the game I enjoy, thanks.

Holy Tauren! I've been playing on a corpse that long? Now I feel dirty.
I do not think WOW is going anywhere, But i do not think Blizzard will learn from current issues anymore.
They will go to the money, And i will go to other company that want my money.
But i think the big thing for blizzard with wow is, If they decide to drop it.
People would really be asking some tough questions at this point.

Trying to prove something is incorrect, that hasn't happened yet, makes zero logical sense. That literally is not how burden of proof works, at all. You can't prove a negative.
You know, when I saw that question asked about micro-transactions and how they answered that as "We don't know yet." that right there, is why many people lose trust with Blizzard. There are going to be micro-transactions. Heck I'm willing to bet that question was among the first 5 asked by the higher-ups, "How can we profit from this?" By telling your incredible fan base (yes, those who paid a higher price for a ticket, that travelled out there and got a hotel and all the money they spent are incredible) "We don't know just yet." is BS. Maybe you don't know if you'll let the player continue playing after leveling up without paying a few bucks, but don't stand there and have such little respect for your fanbase and say, "We haven't thought about that part yet."
Cowards.
Cowards.
Just another typical doomsayer.
You can't prove a doomsayer wrong, because their belief system is not set in reality and they ignore any facts that contradict their point of view.

I think gaming is going through what he car industry in America did.
A company gets faced with a problem. Do they make the most money possible at the expense of product quality or make less profits and have increased over head? The way that publicly traded companies work legally, is that they have to make the choice that results in greater share value and higher dividends.
General Motors had this problem when they started making repetitive copies of the same cars and re-badging them under multiple brands, Pontiac, Saturn, Chevy, all had a car that was labeled differently and was, under the skin, the exact same car. They cheapened out and make a run of fast selling junk that was low cost to produce....
Then they went bankrupt because no one wanted their crappy cars anymore. The market realized it was all garbage. Gm restructured and started making stuff that was more expensive but desirable again.
Games in a general sense are going to do this to. Probably in smaller, more frequent cycles than the auto industry for obvious reasons.
Blizzard will literally have to try and go into mobile games a few times and lose some money to push the pendulum back the other way. Because if projections say mobile makes more money, then they HAVE to make mobile games until the projections say that PC is more profitable again.
why don't you look at their earnings report...specifically this part "fan reaction was muted, but fans reaction at blizzcon confirmed diablo immortal will be well received by players around the world".
this is irrefutable proof that in terms of feedback and how well the player base receives things they see and hear only what they want and if there isn't any favorable feedback they aren't above blatantly fabricating the scenario they'd hoped for.

Well, in a year or two or three we will know who was right and who was wrong - and we will probably still be arguing about it anyway, 'cause... forums.
I mean, there's plenty of great looking PC games coming. If these large studios want to ditch their loyal fan base at the sheer possibility of cashing in on the mobile market... whatever.
Mobile isn't the most stable of markets and your game can thrive for a few weeks and just entirely die off just as quickly. If they want to burn the bridges with their loyal fans to pursue that... frankly we're better off without 'em. We need less MTX filled crap in the PC world anyways.

Back in wotlk people were insisting there would only be one more expansion.
I disagreed, they said "guess we will know who was right and who wrong" too.
.. but it's not like they came back and said "lol sorry snowfox you were right".. nor will they later over this either.
I am glad that OP is being so objective when he distinguishes between those that "know that things are only about to get much worse, and people who think these are "sky is falling" attitudes."
I wish that I had saved the link to his original post that was far more sky is falling so I could link it here but as far as I am concerned, this thread is just a rephrasing of yesterday's to enable OP to play moderator rather than to prove his point that Blizzard is now doomed.
So OP, how about YOU prove me wrong?

Because it is literally impossible to do 100%. If the burden falls to the accused to prove the accuser wrong the goal post can be moved indefinitely while the accuser rattles through a list of "what if" statements and hypothetical arguments.
It's what the witch hunters used for justice...
Prove to us you're not a witch or burn.
Prove to us you're not a terrorist or burn.
Prove to us you never made a bomb and hid it somewhere.
Prove to us you care about me.....
The anthem of the insecure.

They have been wrong since classic preaching wow is dead due to character services.....zzzzzzz
I get what you're saying, OP and it's entirely possible, even probable that in time, WoW will go mobile.
Idk if it will or not, it's just a possibility some time in the future. This all depends on how much it's making now, costs of future pc expacs vs going mobile, etc.. and it's ultimately Blizzards decision as it's their game.
Not ours.
That said, I've seen a lot of mobile games that mimick WoW. I get advertisements for them a lot on my phone and ipad.
I don't play them because while they look pretty good I know they're dumb. They'll be limited.
Idk how well they do either. If you could find out about that, how well they do vs the cost of producing them, etc.. that'll give you an idea of whether WoW will go that way and could give you an approximate timeframe when to expect it.
Some of those games have graphics that look just like WoW, too.
