I normally play Horde but want to finally level to max as Alliance on a big, social Alliance-dominant server for the full experience.
I tried Stormrage but honestly this place doesn’t seem very social… whereas I hear Proudmoore/Moon Guard both are.
I don’t RP at all, and don’t really plan to (though it’s still a possibility one day), but what draws me to an RP server like Moon Guard is I am craving a place where the world feels alive and people talk and are friendly and there’s lots going on. On the other hand, maybe Proudmoore fits that description without the RP? I also think RP servers have a lot more guilds that hold events and get-togethers.
As for raiding… I used to raid pretty hardcore back in the day but nowadays I mostly rep grind, mount/xmog farm, and get achievements. I may be interested in the future but I just thought it was important to note that a super serious progression-focused raid scene isn’t mandatory for me.
I’d love to hear about your thoughts on these servers and would appreciate any advice you can give me

I can only speak for MG: People don’t talk. They do their daily checklist, get their gear, and off they go without a word spoken. If you find a guild or make friends, that’s different. But the world is pretty much dead. Heavily populated, but dead. So, zombies, basically.
There are a bunch of good guilds on MG, but I don’t know any of them personally. RP happens, mostly ERP, and you’ll see a lot of that whether you want to or not.
Raiding is meh on MG horde-side, not sure about alliance.
IMHO, the social aspect to WoW outside of guilds and your own personal friends had died when servers lost their identities to cross-realm connections. If you start a conversation on MG, though, people will 7/10 times be nice to you.
Roll an alt on each server and try them out.

I feel like Moon Guard is a server that kept a lot of its own “identity” well after xrealm. Even maining on WRA from 2010 thru 2019, I always felt Moon Guard had a better “community” feel.
It seems to have lost some of that over the last handful of years, but it’s still there.
The “world” being dead has more to do with the design of the game and world content than xrealm / server communities. Classic’s world is alive by necessity, more or less. Game isn’t designed that way anymore. (assuming by “alive” you mean interactions as opposed to just bodies)
You may be right. I’m no expert. I just see what I see, but I definitely don’t have all the facts.
I’m an Alliance main and I refuse to play on Moon Guard despite it having a higher population than WRA. There’s a stigma associated with the realm, and as much as people will point out that’s not everybody, you are going to put up with being labeled as playing on the ERP realm - and you do see that sort of thing outside Goldshire. Note, I am a roleplayer so I benefit from being on an RP server.
If you’re not interested in RP and don’t want to have the meme factor of being on Moon Guard, there’s more opportunity for literally everything on Proudmoore.

While you’re not wrong you do really get judged hard for being on MG, it is always oh so satisfying when you shut them up and dominate the meters.

It pretty much comes down to RP realm or Normal realm.
The two you listed each has their own optics to them, if you care about that kind thing.
Yea, but you’re still a moonguardian
A lot of people like to mention the stigma moonguard has but personally I’ve been on moonguard for almost two years now. I love to roleplay and it’s the only server that during peak times will organize massive events for roleplay which is nice. Most players I’ve met are very approachable and helpful, there are plenty of guilds that have a sense of community and as long as you push yourself out there it’s nice. Sure people Do erp on mg but that’s not everyone there are a good majority who do not care for that side. It’s easy to ignore and not partake or associate yourself with it. As per the stigma of the server itself honestly I personally don’t care what people think. I’m actually someone who pvps and yeah I get people talking smack sometimes for being on mg but I just ignore it or I shove their opinions right back down their throat when I show them I know what I’m doing and I’m not just some roleplayer. I am in a good raiding guild currently on moonguard as well. I definitely enjoy seeing all the open world rp that happens around the server and for me it definitely gives it a nice immersive feel.

Thats where i get the majority of my OnlyFans subscribers.
PVP Focused groups I would say Moon Guard and PVE Raids Proudmoore.
Mailbox dancing on Moon Guard is not like it used to be.
While I agree with this sentiment since I main restodruid it is nice to have people talk sh-t about me and then I am the one healing them😂 it’s basically a double edged sword with me lol. People will say oh great we have a mg healer well all die and then I carry a game . No big deal. But it is kinda satisfying
My Ally side guild leader is something like 470 or 480 and will absolutely stomp in groups and its so funny watching people talk down to him for being from “Moan Guard” and the barely come anywhere near his damage.

Yeah I mean I just ignore the haters and let my skill talk for me I mean I don’t just pvp for nothing, I’m not all talk.
but really I just ignore the haters and do what I do best. I’m pretty well rounded on both pvp and pve, it helps that I am in a mythic progression guild though too.
I love me some moon guardians. They are the backbone of the Alliance forces in 40 v 40 pvp in my battlegroup. Always i see 20 + moonguardians and usually in thoses pvp with them. I win.
I just transferred here (MG) two days ago and am looking for basically the same thing as OP. We are out there.
I run into Moon Guard people all the time on Proudmoore - everyone I’ve encountered has seemed friendly and fun. I doubt that there’s much difference between the two servers in terms of how friendly people are in general on the Alliance side. Proudmoore PvE is really good, I think, and of course Moon Guard has lots of RP guilds and events.
I’ve been on both, don’t recommend either of them.
Dalaran I found had nicer people. That was a while ago though.
